How many wow folders symlink 5 boxing

How many wow copies do i need if i run symlink ?

wow1 Main wow. wow1 shares data.WTF,interface to wow2

wow2 4 slaves

Or

wow1 main wow wow1 shares data.WTF,interface to wow2 wow3 wow4 wow5

wow4 slave

wow5 slave

Either one works.

Personally I use 5 folders as sometimes I have different addons for each clone or want my settings 100% different, but a lot of people simply choose to do 1 main wow folder and 4 clones in the same second folder.

I have always only used one wow folder for all the accounts. I guess its not ideal though if you want to have different settings per each client. Maybe will make different wow folders.

This is a good idea - probably thought of a long time ago - but as a fairly noob multi boxer, I never thought of it!!!

P.S. i have been having FPS issues with my game since 3.0 came out - maybe this will make a difference becuase I can set all the slaves to low resolution low color.

I symlink everything except the WTF\ folder, instead I symlink wtf\ACCOUNT so each wow\wtf folder has its own config.wtf which control all the video/gfx/sound/etc settings.

For AddOns I simply use the AddOns button on the login screen to turn on/off addons, that way I only have to update the addons once a week for one folder and they all get updated.

Works out great, took me 15 mins to update from 2.4.3 to patch 3.0 although it took a good week for the addons to all finally stop spitting out errors.

I only symlink the data and iterface/addons folders. This way I keep settings seperate and only have to update addons in one spot. It's brilliant!
