I recently went to Full screen instead of windows mode and my frame rates shot up the roof.
I'm not going to be much help. But I've noticed a great decrease in FPS on one of my machines since the patch. I'd assumed it was all the extra "crap" from the holiday event.
I hadn't tried going to full screen though, so I may give that a shot.
