    Default "Hardcore" WoW server

An Idea i've been tossing around in my brain for the past year or so.. Post up if you have any input

Edit: I wasn't really thinking of this in the terms of multiboxing.. I'd probably single box there.. Too many problems arise multiboxing, and the flame hate, and the groups formed specifically to kill you would just be WAY too intense, although only having to group with yourself for an instance would be nice.

I don't mean to be offensive but hasn't this been proposed many times before?

Just seems like a bad idea for so many reasons.

Possibly.. It probably has and it may seem like a bad idea.. If you'd really want, just post up a couple.. I really want any kind of input, good or bad.. I could trash the entire idea, but I think that wow is a very casual game.. There are little reprecutions (sp) in the game making it sometimes feel easy or insignifigant, and I think that a new dimension of game play can be created adding such a game mode, but like you said, there are many faults with this, and maybe the new dimension of gameplay is against the spirit of the game.

I remember seeing this proposal a lot on the forums when WoW was first released, especially when the 'Carebear' hate was at its zenith, primarily from the 'elite' EQers who loved to puff themselves up when looking down upon the casual player.

Wasn't really my intention, I know you wern't implying anything.. I just imagined a WoW where more risk was involved, giving incentive to possibly tie players closer together as a community.

Edit: than again, that may be asking a lot form an online community :P

No, certainly wasn't intending to imply you were but your idea brought me down memory lane of WoW posts past.

There may be something to the lack of solo content helping create a more close knit community in EQ though. I just know when I came to WoW, I found it so refreshing that the pain of death was gone and I was no longer punished for it, no longer had hours of game time erased by one death that put me back a level. I really hated that about EQ, but I know others really dug it, for some weird reason. :P

You tossed up the idea (again) for hardcore mode, but that was it. You need to elaborate more on that. Hardocre mode can mean a few things. Money loss? XP loss? Gear loss? etc.

Also, bear in mind, with such heavy penalties, instances would have to be toned down and would be more boring. Take the Archimonde fight for example. It has an average of 80 wipes before downing for the first time. You would not be able to have a fight like this with XP/gear loss on death.

There are reasons why WoW are more popular than other games. Lack of "hardcore mode" is one of them.
