    Default Laptop :( Can I 3,4,5- box?

I have an HP Laptop dv9500t

    Intel Core2 Duo 2.2GHZ
    2gigs of ram
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
    2 Seperate 100gig harddrives

When I have 3 up it lags fairly often, not extreme just very choppy.
    Is this something that's possible?
Any ideas on how to fix the choppiness?

Make sure to switch off powersaving features, if the BIOS supports CPU/battery profiles, turn those off too.
Switch off every windows service you don't need to maximise cpu and ram for the game.
Adjust the wow video settings to the lowest you can work with (resolution, gfx details, view distance, ...)same with sound.
If you notice that your pc is swapping memory to disk, change the windows settings to no longer allow windows to choose the swapfile size.
Just make the swapfile size 1x or 2x the size of your memory and lock it (ie make min and max size the same)..
allowing windows to dynamically change the swapfile size makes for frequent delays..

HD speed will matter too, especially since laptop HD's are often 5400rpm.. defraggin can help, but probably won't do as much as getting a 7200rpm one.

    hope this helps a bit

i got me a new laptop to replace my old desktop a few months back and was gonna pick up extra copies of WoW to start multiboxing. sadly i had to put the extra copies on hold due to many reasons. now i'm ready to pick them up and start this. I tried on my old desktop with 3 accounts, but didn't do my research first. i think i might have burnt up something or it was just time to replace it. i'm wondering if my new laptop can handle it seeing as how even with my laptop cooler, it still gets a little warm playin WoW. everything on it meets the standards for it, but i'm unsure of the speed of the drive, might be 5400rpm, along with the video card now and sadly i can't find any cards on newegg.com or tigerdirect.com to replace it if need be or for a future upgrade. another thing, i noticed that when i run it in fullscreen mode, i get better fps than in windowed mode. i need to defrag the thing, but right now i'm getting no more than 30fps either way. will check after i defrag and clean the drive out. i even when into the msconfig and shut off all non essential programs to see if that helped and it did on the system performance, but no major change in WoW. please look at the following link and check it out and let me know as i am sick of puging and my friends i normally run with are no longer on when i am. my goal is quad-boxing so i'd still have that one slot open in a group for outside help and/or my friends. i'm also plannin on getting the following monitor for my xbox 360 and i'm wondering if you think my video card can handle running on a dual monitor setup multiboxing, so i can run my slaves all on the 24" in windowed mode or pip with keyclone and my main on my 18" laptop monitor. ty for any input

At the moment, I triple box on the following hardware, the only 'external' software I use is keyclone

    Quad core extreme 3Ghz
    Asus Striker extreme
    2Gb of Ram
    2x EVGA 8800GTX KO ACS3 in SLI
    300GB Sata-II
    24" benQ
    G15 + Nostromo N52

Keyclone splits my screen into 3, a large upper area and 2 halve bottom areas, I still have all details on max, not having any lag whatsoever.

Regarding laptop spec's, I can't rly say, I am expecting my 15inch macbookpro in the next couple of weeks, so I will give it a shot.
(mbp has both a 9400 and 9600GT, so I will try them both for you)

I 5 box on an XPS M1710. Same CPU as yours, upgraded to 4GB ram, single 100GB Hdd and 7950GTX.

I started with 2GB initially then upgraded to 4GB for about $50. This made a world of difference. Each open WoW requires 5-600MB RAM so I was maxing this out and hitting pagefile very easily which is probably you're problem at the moment. As 4MB is currently the max available RAM for lappies, there is no point upgrading to a 64 bit OS.

Your CPU is fine. GPU should be OK with low graphics settings although may struggle a bit if you are using a 1920 X 1200 screen and I am not sure how it will handle the WotlK changes.

Your hard drives are OK, but the only other thing you could do for performance is swap one of your HDD for a 32GB SSD. This would cost approx $150 and you would then symlink your WoW data file on this drive to improve access to textures in highly populated areas such as Shatt and AV. The only thing I would say about this is do NOT use any current SSD as your main system drive as you may experience some stuttering due to slow writes. If you want a SSD for this purpose I would recommend waiting until the intel units become more freely available.

Saying all of that, the $50 for the RAM is the one upgrade that will make the most difference for you so try this first and get the HDD only if you can afford to.

    Cheers
