Got myself a cold on Wednesday, attempted to fix all of my addons and such.
I caught a really bad cold at Blizzcon too. Started getting sick Tuesday and just getting over it now. Lots of people in closed quarters...easy for stuff to get around. Did you go to the ATI/AMD booth Vyndree?
I did -- was there someone especially germy hanging out at the ATI booth?
All of my coworkers got sick while I was on vacation, so I thought I had dodged a bullet. Started sneezing like mad when I got into work, but thought it was just my allergies... By the end of the day it was a full blown cold.
As for depending on other people -- that's the point. Stacking shaman meant that you were depending on other shaman, so it's always been that way. Now, you just have to cross-class more.
From what I was seeing in my raid, our elemental shaman was pulling around 2500+ dps in sunwell gear. In my enh gear I think I could only max at 2300. The rogues were doing 3k+. Don't build your ideas of "correct dps" based off of known broken balance such as retadin. Just because they plow through you doesn't mean they SHOULD. Furthermore, we're getting balanced around the level 80 skills, which we can't really get right NOW but may rebalance the fact that we're "sub-par" at 70.
If you don't like the current direction of the shaman class (which is what you should be looking at -- direction, since we're not yet level 80) then you should consider using this month pre-WotLK to find a better suited comp for your needs. If you're willing to stick with it and think that (at 80) shaman will even themselves out, stick with shaman.

In the end, class composition should be based on your personal preference -- not what everyone else tells you is the perfect comp.
Or.... you could just be an altaholic like me and have one of almost everything
