    Default Water Cooling

Hey again everyone! I know I've been posting a lot lately just asking questions because I'm not too updated with PC's anymore, and I wanted to thank everyone for their kind, polite and very helpful responses and input on my problems ^^

Getting to the real questions though, they are about water cooling a system. I have decided on getting a very nice computer (imo) running a Quad-Core, and Dual-SLI GTX 280's. So I figured I should aim for water-cooling if i'll be going all out anyways. I was looking into kits and I ended up with a Zalman Restorator after a lot of thought (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118015).

The initial look and idea is fantastic to me, but my question came in with the water block. I have already got a new CPU block to fit my AM2 socket, and I read up on the VGA block that comes with the kit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118121) and I am confused as to, if that block would fit on my GTX 280. After some reading I came upon the (http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...product_id=700) VGA block, but it is very expensive for what it seems to do. I was just wondering if the Zalman one would fit, or if I HAVE to get the Koolance one.

I was aiming at getting this combo ideally for my VGA block.. 2x (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118121) and I would be linking them with extra tubing. Would that work? Thanks in advance

the zalman vga block will not fit on a gtx 280, sorry. If you check the specifications tab on the newegg detail you will be able to see what all graphics cards it fits.

Do not get the kit. Do not get the Zalman Restorator. Do not get the koolance fullcover block

Go here and read everything, then ask questions

The zalman restorator will be horribly inadequate for cooling two GTX 280's. Hell, it would be inadequate to cool just your cpu, let alone the cpu and 2 gtx280s lol. That thing is on par with mediocre air-cooling with no overclock. It's only selling point is less noise. If you already bought it, well..start over. It's made out of aluminum. You are bound to use copper blocks and you will get galvanic corrosion. Stores for water cooling:

The resonator will never keep up with a single GTX280. If you are serious about water cooling it, you will get 3x120mm radiators at the very least. Do not try to also use your zalman stuff with it, as it is made out of aluminum and you will end up having far far more problems then the dollars you will save. Ask watercooling help at xtreme, you will get lots of help there from people who think about this stuff all day long.

I have gone so far as vapor cooling. You do not need it. At all. Unless you are overclocking. You do not need to overclock for WoW. At all. Don't waste your money.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! I would like to say one thing though and that is, that this computer is going to be going further than WoW =] I am hoping to be able to keep this rig for Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, as well as Crysis in the meantime which is why I was looking at water cooling thoroughly.

Herc I read a lot about Water Cooling on the sites you linked, and they were very helpful and I thank you as well as everyone else very much for the input. You seem like you know a lot about Water Cooling a system, and I was wondering if you would possibly hop in a vent or chat channel with me sometime so I could talk to you about it a little more in depth? =] Let me know! Thanks again everyone!
