Default Post your Team post WOTLK

Post your team that you will use for after the expansion comes out and why you going to use that particular team:

    ----------------------------------------------------

    5box

    Deathknight, Elemental Shaman x4

I think it would be nice to use a different AOE tank than a paladin for once, and the health kickbacks through his attacks would make the team last longer (plus you get to try out a new class), there is of course the concern that the changes coming from the expansion pack will keep the shaman dps to mediocre level compared to other classes.

Well i will start off the thread since i have been putting plenty of thought into this.

My Gf, 2 roomates, and friend from back home at another college are going to do 10 man raid isntances.

Heres my configuration and the raid comp:
3x Elemental shamman: My first group comp ever was paladin 2x warlock, it just did not have the burst that shammans do.
Elemental Shammans give nice sustained dps with raids, not as good as warlocks but warlocks certainly dont have the burst that shammans have.
    Shammans also give: Heroism
Grace of air, wraith of air, 3x mana spring totems (in wotlk supposebly), elementals, rez's, minor heals, the list goes on.
Shammans are they multiboxing class for the obvious reason.

alright so that was predictable right, well what will the raid comp be?

    Death Knight frost spec MT
    Fury OT
Paladin holy and druid resto will be dual boxed by my girlfriend.
    Hunter (survival right now)
    Shadow priest for mana back
ret paladin for 2 blessings, bubbles, mana back.

Notice that forums have said that a shadowpriest and a ret paladin were all a 25 man party needed to regain mana.
This 10 man instance has the burst, it has the dps, it has the tanking and healing abilities, players. It also has, count it, Hunter (1) Ret paly (2) shadow priest (3) 3x elemental shamman (6) resto druid (7), thats right 7 potential mana back classes, all played by great wow players.

We are really expecting great things from the group. We have all tried to do some types of pve and the group synergy is great.
Not meaning the synergy of how each class works together but how each person can listen to instructions.

Other classes: i was thinking boomkin but i decided against it because they have threat generation like crazy.
I was also thinking frost mage but, honestly... im not going to take a mage to a raid because they give water. Thats ridiculous.

I'm gonna continue with my Paladin / 4 elemental shaman team.
Because with 3.5 sec cd on chain lightning, i belive paladin will be the strongest class with 4 ele shamans.
Iam gonna start PVE first off, but i want to be able to PvP. Thats why i dont do mixed team - And i simply LOVE this setup.

I find it very fun to play paladin as tank. I belive its also gonna be the tanking class with fewest tank's, hence many prot paladins now may reroll DK to acctually be able to play PvP(Alltho ret is good in wotlk)

I'm still debating wether to go with paladin, resto shaman, 2 elemental shaman and druid, or to go with paladin, resto shaman, elemental shaman and warlock. My reasons are as follows:

Paladin: With the recent changes to tank mechanics post 3.0 it looks like all tanks will be able to AoE and single-target tank effectively. The more important point, for a boxer, is obviously which tank requires less micromanagement and the answer still seems to be paladin, especially with the 3.0 abilities nicely fitting into a rotation. A blue statement was made that the fights should be more about "moving and healing" than about a threat game, so mobility looks like it will be a bit more important.

Balance druid: With the coeff nerf in 3.0, a balance druid (with earth and moon) will be a very nice (almost mandatory) addition to a shaman team. Warlocks will be able to supply the same debuff (CoE) though.

Resto shaman: This is mostly a matter of convenience. I already had a shaman I didn't use, so I might as well respec it to a healer instead of levelling a new healer. If I had the option to choose freely (ie. the time and the energy) I'd go for a priest due to mobility, but shaman healers have their advantages also (more totems :-D).

Elemental shaman: An elemental shaman looks like a good addition to any team. ToW is a very nice group buff and even after the 3.0 changes, shaman still stack better than most classes (grounding totems, large selection of totembuffs). Damage output is decent and with the option to throw in a backup-heal in case of emergency.

Warlock/elemental shaman: I haven't quite decided on this yet. The warlock can bring some very nice debuffs to the team, but are a bit harder to manage. Added CC in form of banish is situational, but very useful, especially since there's already 3 options for "normal" CC in the team (2 x hex + root). Also adds AE capability, which seems to be the shaman sore spot at the moment (druid has some AE also, but some of it needs to be mouse targetted).

Adding the warlock and removing an elemental shaman removes 1 grounding totem, meaning there's just a single grounding totem left (assuming we use WoA). However, with a warlock, I get better use of dropped gear, ending up with 1 cloth class, 1 leather class, 2 mail classes and 1 plate class. I guess it's in favor of the lock at the moment, but it's still undergoing consideration.

well, actually, I'm gonna hang it up for a bit. RAF runs out on the 20th of Nov. so I'll get teams to 68 (which might take a while) and then I'll probably stop 3 of 5 accounts and just go Mains and secondary dualbox to 80 till I get my raiding toons settled. Just got in a T6+ guild that plans on zooming to 80 and raiding naxx asap, so I can't be messin around on alts, and buying 5 xpacs at once is a bit pricy this time of year for me. I expect about Febuary or March things will settle down and I'll get bored one day and I'll start 5 up again. With at least one naxx geared tank and healer.

I think composition wise, Tank - DPS - Heals is always a good choice. but the ever popular dps - dps - dps - dps - dps will still work.

If you want to mix it up by throwing a boomkin or lock in the mix, it'll go better starting out, especially when everything is really hard right away when you don't overgear anything. COH priest will probably be the best healer but it sounds like all tanks and healers will be great at their jobs in the xpac.

Although I've spent a lot of time levelling "alternates" to 60/61 with RAF. I've been focusing on my Pali +4 Shamans, I'm 69 now though. So I will likely be switching to doing dailies on those guys and then working on a second team, hopefully getting them to 70 before Wrath hits. My plan is to drop 1 Shaman from the first team in favor of a Druid, which will give me a second team with Paladin, 2 Mages, and 2 Shamans. I'm trying to focus on just 1 team at a time, my main team of Pali, Druid, Shamans will be levelling to 80 ASAP, then we'll see after that. Eventually, I'd like to xfer a team to another set of accounts and try some 10 boxed instances, but I'd rather get them levelled and geared before I even bother with the additional xfer/account fees. All of my accounts already have Wrath paid for though, so I'll be 5 boxing at midnight on release day.

I'm going to stick with my 5xShaman. For WotLK I'm going to try and stay with my one group of boxers and one other main. Especially with achievements, as somewhat a completionist, I don't think I can afford the time I know I would take on more than that .

Still debating if I should fix my 2nd comp back up to 5-box (4x ele shm + holy priest) or if I should just keep the costs down with
my 3 x ele shm combo that I now play.
Leaning towards 3 shammies as it is easier to grind quests, doesn't strain as much on the little brain and wallet. Might take my old
feral tank out and do a dru+mag+shm combo as well, though that strains on the little brain as well.

For me WotLK is all about enjoyment until lvl 80 (then it's just grinding j/k) and I enjoy the effectivness of the shammies....

    - Little downtime
    - Quick corpse run if something goes wrong
    - Burst dmg
    - Looks (only S2 but just love the look)

This week I tried my limits with the 3 shammy combo and after doin' solo all Ogri'la pre-quest mobs (except the 5 x summoning one) I really
could see how imba only 3 are, so they will fly through WotLK fast and through the alliance gankers.

Sorry if I went off track there for a sec, 2am and way too tired to write.

Paladin + 4 shaman.... I may add a druid, but this group is so easy to MB. All of you trying to MB a DK tank are in for a shocker. They have a LOT of situational skills. GL keybinding it all.
