Imo, people are too modest. I love it when a sports player or musician talks him/herself up. It's a nice change from the "well, it was a team effort, all the boys worked really hard for this result and hopefully we can have a repeat performance next week" which seems to be brainwashed into anyone who has the possibility of being interview post-match. WTB back the ol' "shit yea, I was on fire today, my opponent just couldn't keep up which allowed me to get some easy influence and really helped rip this game open." or even the ol' "g'day mum, dad, everyone back home, woohoo im on TV!!"
i don't mind that kind of personality you describe because, well, they DID something and deserve the spotlight they got put in. Can't have that behavior every time tho.
But in Sam's case, well he hasn't achieved much in wow yet, and as was said above he's just throwing more money at a problem which doesn't require money to be fixed.
The whole "Shit yeah, i am an awesome boxer look at me i'm boxing 26/36/whatever" is just meh.
Sam is just throwing himself in the spotlight, he didnt get put in it.

I personaly am not upset because he's spending/wasting money - who cares what he does with it, but because he indeed 'wastes' it by not taking advice, or even taking a logical approach on things (hurts my cartesian self), and is not even level 20 on his toons after 2 months+. what is worth bragging about?

Reminds me of my friend who bought a Porsche and keeps it in his garage, or my uncle who bought a (very) expensive painting, and keeps it in a safe. I see it as a waste of money, even though it might not be for them.
