Default 5 Mage-Team in Deadmines - Some Questions

    Hi there everyone,

today I went to deadmines with my Mage Team (Level 20, 1 Frost-Mage, 4 Fire-Mages) and encountered some Problems during this. To kill Rhak'zor was easy, the trash wasn't a problem aswell. Sneed is an issue, 'cause he always kills my mage team after I finished off the shredder, but I get him down the 2nd try. Gilnid is also no problem, but I am unable to kill Mr. Smite. I made a Macro for sheeping his guards, but my mages always sheep the same guard. I thought over killing them first, but I can imagine, what Smite does to my mages while I am killing his guards... Any advices?

Try placing your mages in different places before the battle begins. Make sure that their sheep-ing isn't based on the focus target.

You are going to find that you may need a healing class to do 5 mans. There are some encounters where you can't live with out a healer. You are at a low enough level where you can raise another class up and try it out. A classic build is 4x mage and Priest or you can try a holy paly but the priest aoe healing is probably much better for you.

    Good luck

Edit: I have only run the trinity setup in 5 mans. I defer my comments to those that have run your setup before.

I agree with the above poster.. you should level up a healer. Really, more a rezzer. You'll have a mage die frequently enough to want one.

Levelling up my mages I actually didn't have a problem in most instances pre TBC, as long as my mages were the same level as the mobs. Before that level, you just have too many resists to play effectively. Usually I could kill most mobs before they got to me.

What do you mean by this? I'm using a system where my main selects a target, then each mage has a unique keybind that makes my target their focus. Click through all four mages, then whenever I need to poly they will cast on their own focus. Is there a better way to do it?

A huge trick for almost all bosses is physically placing the mages in separate spots. Individually moving them to separate positions before you attack the boss. Doing this gives you a few advantages -
mobs have to run from mage to mage if they get aggro, reducing the amount of damage you take.
mages automatically target the closest mob closest to them, allowing them to target different mobs.
your characters are less previous to AoE attacks.
