    Default WotLK Instance Tactics

If I can ever get the final bosses of these dungeons I plan on making some videos.

    The Nexus

    Grand Magus Telestra

    Notable Trash
The only trash mobs you have to worry about here are the Stewards as you get near her room. They hit hard and have and AOE silence.

    SpecialTotems
    Frost Resistance, Fire Resistance

    Boss Fight
    Phase 1:
Start the pull at max range, don't use an Earth Elemental at the start. Without a tank she will just lob Fire Bombs at you and will not toss you in the air. Heal up and nuke her down.

    Phase 2:
She spawns a frost and a fire copy of herself. They die quickly so switch targets and take them out. I go fire then frost but I doubt it makes a difference.

    Phase 3:

This is where it gets fun. So far I haven't figured out how to avoid the air toss but its not that hard to deal with at this point as she is almost dead. Nuke when you can and shock when you are in the air. The only important thing is to heal up often as she has a few AOE attacks that basically stun you. Make sure after an air toss that you have all your guys facing her and she will die quickly.

    Anomalus

    Notable Trash
The packs with caster dragonkin and drakenoids kills the drakenoids first and let your grounding totems take care of the casters. The drakenoids have very low health but do a lot of damage and have mortal strike.

For the vortex packs chain lightning on the vortex and nuke it down, then clean up the non-elites.

For the arcane elementals (or those plus vortex packs) kill them first as they do some damage but buff your mana regen when they die. Right before Anomalus there is a pack of 3 + a vortex. You can pull the arcane elementals solo, so make sure you are line of sight and do so. Heal up generously because as soon as you kill the first one mana shouldn't be a problem.

    Special Totems
    None

    Boss Fight
    Phase 1:
Start out the pull as normal, I didn't bother with an Earth Elemental as the fight is pretty easy. Nuke him down till he goes immune and spawns a portal.

    Phase 2:
Switch your target to the portal as soon as it spawns and kill it. Mix in chain lightning and that should take care of any mobs that spawn from it, Thunderstorm also works well. The only thing to watch for is sometimes depending on your positioning he can spawn the portal behind you. This is slightly annoying but not a real problem. Just turn your guys and be ready to turn them back when you kill the portal. After the portal is dead it goes back to Phase 1, repeat until one of you is dead.

    Ormorok the Tree-Shaper

    Notable Trash
All the trash here is notable. I would suggest against using any totems here, if you do recall them often. The little sprouts are somewhat annoying but don't cause too much trouble. If you get too many of them on one guy they can do a lot of damage so if you get 3+ just Thunderstorm or Fire Nova them off you.

The most dangerous trash is the pats. They have long routes so you may end up pulling a tree and a pat if you aren't careful. You should be able to handle a tree and a pack and sprouts with generous AOE (fire nova, thunderstorm, chain lightning) and obviously drop totems if you pull a big pack as adds won't be a problem.

    Special Totems
    Grounding Totem

    Boss Fight
Before the fight, make sure to kill a sprout on the ramp leading up to the boss, this will provide you with regen during the fight.

    Phase 1:
The most important thing in the entire fight is positioning. You can do it positioned badly, but it makes the fight much much harder. Stack your guys on the ramp directly in line with the front of the boss. Basically you want him to be 180 degrees to you when fighting, not 179 or 181. What this will do is take his ground spikes out of the equation. Without those it is your standard tank/spank/heal. Do not use an earth elemental as it will probably cause you get get spiked. He hits hard but slow so healing shouldn't be an issue. He does have a spell reflect he casts on himself but you don't really have to worry about it. Your grounding totems should be plenty of protection.

    Phase 2:
At 20% he enrages so be prepared for proactive healing. Heal his target as he is swinging as he hits much faster and can probably 2 shot your guys if you don't heal them up. Other than that just keep attacking. You may lose a guy or two but that should be ok. I would suggest bloodlusting at around 25-30% so you have it for this phase.

    Keristrasza

    Notable Trash
    None

    Special Totems
    Frost Resistance, Fire Resistance

    Boss Fight
This is a tough one. I only ever got her to 50%, but I haven't tried the 5xEarth elementals yet. Positioning is tricky here as she has a tail swipe that will knock your guys way back so be careful of that. She also hits fairly hard so good healing is needed. However the most damaging spell is that the ground is frozen so if you do not move you get a stacking dot. I try to move or jump after every 2 spells I cast.

Anyway I haven't really figured out how to last past 50%, even if my guys didn't die I was running low on mana. Hopefully the 5xEarths will work, since they aren't needed for any other boss they will always be up for this fight unless you wipe

    Utgarde Keep

    Prince Keleseth

    Notable Trash
The most damaging trash are the Runecasters. They have two shields they cast, one is an absorb shield which you can purge if it is on your target but isn't a big deal. The problem shield is the damage one. It does aoe fire damage so purge it off any mob that it is cast on. You can also interrupt him when he is casting the shield.

The proto dragons hit hard and have an aoe knockback so just be careful where you position yourself if you skip trash.

    SpecialTotems
    Fire Nova Totem

    Boss Fight
Grounding totems do not stop his shadow bolt unfortunately and they do a lot of damage so be aware. Apart from the shadow bolt he will cast and ice prison on someone and summon skeletons. The skeletons are weak and can be taken care of by either Fire Nova or Thunderstorm. I suggest Thunderstorm as it also gets them away from you so they don't rez on top of you. Use Fire Nova against them if you haven't killed the boss by the second wave.

For the ice prison just drop Fire Nova totems and keep DPSing, if you get skeletons and Thunderstorm is up, that will take care of both the skeletons and the ice prison.

    Skarvald & Dalronn

    Notable Trash
The geist are non elite and generally can be pulled independent of other trash, I would suggest doing this so you don't get overwhelmed.

    SpecialTotems
    Grounding Totem

    Boss Fight
Position yourself nearer to Dalronn (the caster) and set up your totems. I used an Earth elemental here just to keep Skarvald off me for a few seconds as he does a lot of damage and has a knockback. Use chainlightning, fire nova, and thunderstorm liberally here as your goal is for them both to die as close to the same time as possible. Get Dalronn down to about 35% then switch to Skarvald. They don't have to die precisely at the same time, its just if they die they stay active but untargetable while the other is up.

    Ingvar the Plunderer

    Notable Trash
    More runecasters, yay.

    SpecialTotems
    None

    Boss Fight
    Phase 1:
The first phase isn't too bad, he does a lot of damage but dies fairly quick. The only issue is his shout which damages and silences. So if you keep your guys topped off and if you see him casting it heal anyone under 100%.

    Phase 2:
Very very difficult. I get almost insta-gibbed here. He does more damage and he has a frontal cleave that did 10k damage to all my guys (one shot). Spread out and maybe use Earth elementals and hope you can kill him I guess

Here is the first vid, of The Nexus. I'm not super happy with it, I still wasn't able to get Keri and I screwed up quite a bit making it a slow run so I had to double speed the boss fights which makes the first one somewhat annoying to see.

That was rested, but yes they do give quite a bit of XP. The tough guys give ~2500 non rested and the weaker ones give 1500, I think the bosses give 3k non rested. I plan on doing a quick run to see how much non-rested XP the instances give so I can start planning out my leveling strat.

Very nice. Hope to see some more. It seemed like quite a maze in there. How long did it take you to figure out the jumps/falls you do. First boss seemed a little more complicated than the other 2. Thanks for doing this and keep up the good work.

It didn't take me that long but I had run it several times on my other char (before I got all my guys in beta) so I knew the basic layout. Then I looked at the map from wowwiki so I could plan the best path through, before I did that I kept retracing my steps heh.
