Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and kindof disagree with you here.
Bliz UI sucks (yay dragonborder!!). I run over 100 addons on my solo toons, and at least 20 on my mutibox settup. Basically everything you see, I see cleaner and much better.
FTL system rules. Focusless targetless leaderless. read up, confusing as hell, but it's seriously the best thing out there. And 2 minutes rewriting names in 2 macros per toon (using just follow and assist set up as ftl) is all it takes to switch up the team composition and throw in a 70.
Castsequence macros for totems are the hotness. I have 3 buttons that manage 99% of my totemage - G, H and J. # of toons may vary depending on your personal experience. I started with 3 shaman, got them to 62, then abandoned them to RAF level 5 shaman, but am having fun raiding mains and with my locks atm. Castsequences make sure buffs don't overlap and you can have as many out as you need at once, adjusting for bossfights or whatever, even then I'm dropping some totems I don't really need. You don't need more than one stoneskin, but having multiple groundings down is always a good thing, and multiple tremors dropped staggered will mean they pulse different and will break fears faster.
G for pve totems- push once for on the go refill fun, 4 times when you mean business. If you have Totem of Wrath, take off Searing and put that on the second drop, after the streams.
Toon1 - Mana Spring, Stoneskin, Windwall, Searing
Toon2 - Healing Stream, Grounding, Strength, Searing
Toon3 - Healing Stream, Agility, Grounding, Searing
Toon4 - Healing Stream, Grounding, Tremor, Searing
Toon5 - Healing Stream, Tremor, Wrath of Air/grounding, Searing
H for Fire totems, All toons have the same macro. basically this is your anti-melee or close range. 5 novas going off at once is huge, then to follow with magmas while you heal and try to turn and shock them will finish off single or even multiple close range people if they're not getting heals. dropping before they're in melee range, will only make them back out if they know what's good for them.
/cast [mod:shift] Magma Totem
/cast [mod:ctrl] Searing Totem
/castsequence [nomod] Fire Nova Totem, Magma Totem
J for pvp totems not ideal in every situation, haven't perfected it, but still very good.
Toon1 - Mana spring, Searing, Grounding, Tremor
Toon2 - Healing Stream, Grounding, Stoneskin,,
Toon3 - Tremor, Poison Cleansing, Agility,,
Toon4 - Healing Stream, Grounding, Tremor,,
Toon5 - Windwall, Tremor, Healing Stream,,
you can't tell me you can hit "ctrl + 5, 9 , 6 , 3/7/8." faster than I can pop J four times and be ready to rock and roll. And as far as refreshing totems? you actually sit in one place that long? Besides fire totems, which have a very short lifespan and groundings, which I redrop every cooldown in pvp, sans windwall because you really don't need it if you just kill the hunter, I'm never in one spot for more than 2 minutes.
And don't knock burst pew pew. To deny the power of NS - EM - CL is to deny one's own being. Multiboxing is all about burst, baby. Why do you think people complain so much? because 5 people "can't target and burst people down like that." Burst and focus targeting IS our #1 strength.
yeah, we all do that, thing is we usually don't need or care to. Macros don't limit my toons abilities in the least. Most my macros are hidden but keybound, EVERY button is visible and clickable-most are also keybound, but with Bongos, it's also small and shoved to the bottom in 4 rows to be non-obtrusive, each box and button a mere quarter of one of the default boxes on it's smallest settings. huge ass screen + good mouse = I can still hit it with pinpoint precision when I need to, even if it's in one of the 4 smaller clone boxes on the right. 5 buttons? I use a ton more than that. The main problem with only using macros and a single bar is that you cannot multitask while your enemy group multitasks all the time. Dropping 4 totems (even being different) at the same time is not multitasking.
As you may see, all the bars buttons are keyed, so I can press the key if needed, but in the "Oh shit" moments. I can press the button on my main while the companions are still casting bolts undisturbed by the main's actions.
Nothing new dude. try a Tank/DPS/Healer group, most likely the healer is where you're controlling most of the fights and the healer is never targeting a single toon, but everyone else still does their job.
