Default New system doesnt like multiboxing

OK i just put some upgrades into my system and im not sure if windows is unstable or ive forgotten something but i get hard crashes after running wow for not-so-long. essentialy i have time to load wow, possibly login and the system will freeze and sometimes restart, no warning, no error dialog box, just frozen. the system doesnt overheat and to my knowlege nothing is incompatable/not working. I just flashed my bios and all my drivers are up and running. My system specs are:

amd phenom 9950+ quad core be 140w
    asus m3a78-t mobo
    geforce 8800gtx
    4gigs of geil pc6400 mem 800mhz/4-4-4-12cas
    700w psu

thats all medicly relevant i can think of. a friend told me this behavior is indicitive of a graphics card discombobulation of some kind, but theres no graphical indication of this, ie weird textures. its possible though. i was thinking it could have been my mobo overheating, but it never gets above 45c (warm but not enough for a crash). im really stumped on this one, i recently ran 1 instance of wow crash. what could be the problem with this guy? some of my hardware is at the mobo standard specification, i havent fiddled with it just yet, could that have something to do with my misfortune? thanks

I could be wrong but... It sounds like either a heat problem or possibly some bad ram. RAM is easy to check with software. If the RAM checks out I'd check your cooling. (you mentioned your motherboard wasn't getting too hot but what about your video card or cpu?)

Might want to be specific when telling people to uninstall mods. I use QH and have ZERO problems. In fact I tell people to get it, its by far the best quest mod out there. I have heard of problems with it ( memory leaks and such ) but i have it turned off on all but my main. I never crash. Be nice to see some data/details on why some people are having issues with it.

Now i am not saying thats anyone is wrong here, just would be nice to know why 8)

    About the 3rd post

its either a hot videocard/cpu or a bad ram

    about the bad ram part:
download memtest86+ from http://www.memtest.org , copy to disk or burn to cd, reboot and let that run for at LEAST an hour
if it gives no errors, perhaps let it run the entire night

if memtest gives you errors, its MOST probable your Ram, either that, or a small chance its the L1 cache or motherboard memory
if it passes this test, your Ram is ok, and the crashing problem is somewhere else

next step download Prime95 from http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm
prime is normally run worldwide to find more prime numbers
but it also has a 'torture test' function
    this stresses cpu, ram, harddisk

again let prime95 run for at least an hour, if still no errors perhaps let it run during the night/workday
if it gives errors here, its either the Ram (but than memtest should give errors too) or just general instability

if both of these are error free, the problem lies within WoW probably... cut/paste your /interface and /wtf folders to somewhere else and see if that solves the crashes
if one or both of these give errors, try switching out ram modules to see if 1 or more are defect, if so RMA them back and get some new ones

You mentioned that all of your drivers are up and running. Do you mean that you have all of the latest drivers installed? If not, that is the FIRST thing I would do. Each time I bought a new desktop computer system, I had freezes/crashes with World of Warcraft until I updated them with the latest drivers from nVidia. Once the drivers were updated, I had 0 problems with any freezes or crashes of the game.

From my observation, Blizzard always tests and certifies WoW patches with the latest release of the video drivers. That's why their support forums always have posts about updating the drivers.

Well im pretty sure it isnt my ram because im using the ram from my old system and it worked just fine. the temperatures on everything seems to be normal, with the exception of my gpu, which is hovering at about 72c, its stable right now, but i notice the longer my system is on the more frequent i crash. mobo/cpu sit at 40c under load its not them.

I run carbonite not quest helper. all my drivers are updated. i havent done much fiddling around with timings/frequency apart from my ram.

the whole thing runs swimmingly up untill it crashes. im on lunch right now so i havent had a chance to run the diagnostics. yet, bbl

Quite funny since the same thing happens to me..

The comp been on all night downloading stuff and when i come home and starts boxing it crashes after popping NS+EM+CL.. Okey so i reboot and same thing happens, so i try crysis instead and boom system blacks out again.

Then i went and took a 2 hour nap with my computer turned off. Come back and it doesnt happen at all when i push my comp on the MAX in crysis.

I also got Q9950 and i start to see weird reports on the forums with people running a 9950 2.8Q.
