    Default paladin and mage spec

    Hey people!
Could someone help me out with a paladin + mage dual box leveling spec? I read alot on these forums, but i couldn't find which talents are the best to use.
At the moment my chars are lvl 17. My paladin has 5 / 5 redoubt and 3 / 3 precision. My mage doesn't have any talents spend yet.
I don't know what is more effecient:
an arcane explosion spec, or something with blastwave, arcane / frost, or a full frost aoe spec.
There is so much to choose, but i want the spec that helps my prot pally kill as fast as possible.
Any build link or talent info is welcome!

    Thanks in advance

You and this other guy should get together and work it out.

Yes I'm "that other guy" and I've decided: prot pally + fire mage.
For AOE, prot pally can tank, and mage can spam AE. Frost mage AOE would be too hard because of blizzard ground targeting issues.
For single mob, mage can just spam fireball.

Are either of you guys "panth"? A buddy from my old guilds put his new alts in my guild. He made a paly and mage combo as well. Just wondering 8)

Nope, they are not Lyon :P,

I find my self going Proc with my pally and single target damage with my Mage wich is forst spec. I find frost spec good for slowing down those damn runners so they don't go aggroing any unwanted guests. You can do a lot more damage speccing deferent but your playing 2 toons and stuff dies fast anyways.

I am doing paladin + mage now and up to almost 30 I have just gone ret + fire. I drive paladin and have mage on follow. For single mobs I park mage, que up pyroblast and run in as paladin. By the time it goes off (6 seconds) I have engaged and I pull back towards mage. I then go fire ball then fireblast and mob is almost always dead by then. I really don't care about slowing the mob down since paladin usually engages first and I just want to kill it faster. I think frost would make sense if you had another ranged class, but not sure I see the point with a melee class. Mana usuage is pretty light since you aren't casting a lot per mob and you keep up wisdom.

Most quests don't require you to do a lot of AOE and with sheep most pulls can be cut down to only 2 mobs, which you can handle pretty easily. If I were going AOE, I think it might be easier to drive mage and have paladin on heal with follow. Trying to drive paladin and position and spam abilities while trying to aim mage AOE spells would make me crazy.

This is a good idea actually. A friend of mine just pointed out that AOE tanking + AOE spamming may not be that feasible, because:
    1. Have to be careful so that mage doesn't pull aggro. If he pulls aggro for one mob, chances are he pulls aggro for all of them, then he'll have many mobs on him, and he'll die instantly.
    2. Have to make sure pally lives through the whole combat. As in, can a prot pally really take damage from 5+ mobs while the mage can't really spam AE?

I think a more feasible strategy is that, while pally AOE tank, say 5 mobs, mage does single target DPS one by one. That way, soon enough, only 4 mobs left, and then 3 mobs left, and so on. So the pally doesn't need to endure 5 mobs the whole time. In that case, it makes more sense for mage to spec fire.
For single mobs, then fire is golden, as you said, pyro + fireball + fireblast, not much left hehe...

    Me too.
