well, he got what he deserved tbh,
it's because of char buyers like him that we get mistaken for char sellers.

Really? To be honest, I find it distasteful of people to go at this like a rabid mob looking for others to make fun of. What really bothers me about this is that just because Blizzard disallows account reselling due to tax/security reasons mainly, the blizzard fanboys have somehow come to the conclusion that people who buy accounts deserve being humiliated and made fun of.

I'm not sure what's really wrong about buying/selling accounts, ethically/game-wise/etc.

It's his own fault for wasting the money on a non-tangible item. People that buy accounts, who are instantly 70, have no idea how to play that class, and have really no idea how to gear up. Not to mention it's against the Terms of Service, which everyone agrees to.

Anyone else get asked a lot in AV and other places if you want to sell/trade one of your accounts/chars? I get asked at least once per game then asked "why?" when I say no...have a fucking guess, I roled these guys to play, not to sell!

It's idiots thinking you are an account seller and your greed will make you admit to it to make a sale. People don't understand there is no money in this activity and that we are having fun with our hobby. My answer is "Why would you want one of my crappy characters? You must be horrible if you can't level in a game this easy". Turn it around on them so they go away feeling like the dumbass they are ;)

No direct pun intended in my post.
    Seriously tho.

If I'ld go buy a microwave for $500,
and the manual says "not for pet drying", I try, my pet dies and my microwave now has an odd odor.
Poor pet, I agree, nothing funny about it,
but people would laugh at me for being so stupid.
The company would tell me to RTFM and they won't replace the microwave due to self inflicted damage by using it in a way which was warned for in the manual.
If they could they'ld probably ban me from buying any electronic part for the rest of my life.

IMO, the whole thing which is wrong with account buying/selling is the following:
    Ethically:
These days people rather have easy peasy crap and refuse to work for the things they want to accomplish.
    Game Wise:
Hey a T6 huntard in lfg, he must know his class,
but he just favours to hunt sheep somehow.
It screws up guild recruitment aswell.

I leveled to many character to 70 while singleboxing, I have to agree,
enjoying the fun I had leveling(singleboxing) isn't really there anymore.

But it's Blizzard rules, and that's not a fanboy comment,
it's the same response you'll get when talking about banned for accounts sharing, banned for spam in /2, banned for botting and whatever things which cross the ToS.

From a sociological perspective, societies need to enforce their values by denouncing those that do not share their social norms and mores.

American gaming culture dictates that when in a game, everyone is on equal footing, and outside (real life) factors should not influence the game. This is one of the reasons that people claim that multiboxing is against the spirit of the game, as multiboxers pay more for the game than others. It is a valid point, but I tend to see it as some others do, as a different play style. (personally I wouldn't play wow without multiple characters)

The main point being that by not sharing the value that money should not influence the game, that the person must be denounced.

Funny enough, this is not actually true in all societies from what I am told, as I have heard that in Asian cultures the opposite is expected -- that you should be able to purchase in-game status/items/etc for money.

Dunno, kinda a long and intellecualized explanation, but that is my understanding of such issues.
