    Default PVE 5 Man, Can't Decide on Mage/Lock for Last Spot

    So, I've read every thread / wiki about group makeup, and despite knowing most of the opinions out there I still can't decide :huh:

    I have a 4 man at lvl 62: pally, sham x 2, mage. I have gift levels for my last spot, I'm leaning on mage or lock. My goal is PVE instancing only.

    I think 2 mages would make most instances a total cakewalk (using FTL so could use mage focus for sheeps), but .. it would be nice to have a lock handy. I'm looking for any experience / opinions on similar setups and whether or not I'd miss that second sheep

    I'd take a warlock for Curse of Elements. =) To be honest I don't think you'r gonna miss the last sheep with a paladin tank.

    My other multi-boxing group is of mixed classes consisting of Mages and a Warlock. If I had the patience and time I would revise my choice about the Warlock and replace it with another mage. My personal opinion would be another mage simply because of the crowd control aspect. Regardless of the Pally tank the additional crowd control will make a huge difference at level 70 if you attempt to run heroics.

    Warlock... for summons, healthstones, soulstones, CoE, fear and pet

    Boomkin, in my opinion.
    Rudi's Angels of Baelgun: Josii (Prot Pally), Suzii (Resto Shammie), Tracii (Ele Shammie), Lorii (Boomkin) and Trudii (Frost Mage).

    What surprised me, when starting running heroics, was that CC wasn't really a necessity. Sure, in some situations it's very nice to have and definately makes some things easier (trash and 3rd boss in mgt comes to mind), but if you have 2 mages already, you have CC covered. You'll hardly find any situations where 3 sheeps are a requirement and tbh, it doesn't look like mages will stack all that well in the expansion (nor do they atm). If you worry about CC, also consider that banish can make good CC in some situations where mage CC doesn't apply. Add to that the niceness that is CoE - definately go with the lock imo. Consider druid also - in wotlk they can CC as well.

    Warlock! With my setup I can CC just about 1 of anything. That being said, with the Paladin, I hardly ever find a need to do so.
    I use a demo spec'd Warlock running a Fel Guard. I turned the taunt off, and put it on a castsequence rotation with my paladin's taunt.
    It's an extra get out of jail free card when one of the DPS classes get in over their heads and the timer isn't up on the Paladin's taunt.
