Thread: 3 Boxing

    Default 3 Boxing

    Hello

I was recently 5 boxing, but decided to move down to 3 boxing. The complexity and money was a little bit of an issue at this very moment.

Now, with 3 boxing. I have no idea what would be beneficial about it. 5 boxing I could run my own instances, however with 3 boxing I'm not so sure.

I have searched for posts regarding 3 boxing classes, but alas I have not had any luck.

Would anyone care to explain the benefits of 3 boxing? What good can come out of it? Classes to

    Thanks

I've been three boxing warlocks. Just hit 28 tonight. I have a healer friend and together we can clear instances easily. Most of the time a tank will just slow us down.

I haven't had any experience 5 boxing before, so I certainly can't make comparisons, but I'm having a lot of fun 3 boxing. The only real drawback is No Healer. I'm thinking I maybe should have rolled 2 locks and a priest or something.

I 3-box shammies - hit 18 at the weekend... I imagine that any ranged hybrid class would work well.

the advantage with shammies is the healing / rez / self rez which really speeds things up overall

I was in 2 minds about swapping out a shaman for a paladin... for a tank and the buf synergy but then my friend rerolled pally and saved me the trouble

I'm working on trying out a Fire Mage/Holy Priest/Prot Paladin after failing to make it through WC with 2xMage/1xPaladin at level 20. I've learned healing is VERY important.

To do WC, your tank must be able to take on three or four elites at the same level. Otherwise this is a death sentence for the whole group. And this is being very very careful not to pull too many. It is very tricky in there.

Soon I'll check if four 21 elites can be handled by a lvl 22 palli with a Holy Priest keeping her alive and a Fire Mage burning them down one by one.

I three-box tank/healer/dps. Since about lvl 18 or so I've been leveling almost entirely by running instances. Yes, I realize running instances is a little less efficient than questing, but I find it to be much more enjoyable. I'm 73 now, and I have to say that I absolutely love this combination. I can invite two of any random class and have a perfectly balanced group. I really like the fact that I can run instances with any of my friends without having to dig around for any essential class roles.

I think I prefer three-boxing instead of five because I always like to bring people along. I don't want to turn wow into a single player game.

I 3 box shamans. Currently lvl 69. Well you might not be able to run your own instances but its easyer finding a tank and a healer. I mean, just say your a multiboxer and youll get spammed with whispers :P I currently plan on geting 5 later this summer though.

I think its unwise to less then 5 box as 5 is a natural group.

That being said if you 3 box then:

    1) Tank
    2) Healer
(in EQ a slower was in the 3rd position, is there a slower in WoW lol ... )
    3) Mage (transport/dps)

I think it's unwise to have five because then you've filled your natural group. Now you can't bring friends.

I would say that it's down to your own personality and social choices. I 5 box because I get extremely irritated with human beings after spending about 10 minutes interacting with them. Couple that with an unfounded superiority complex and you have one very anti-social hermit who refuses to have friends and annoys his GF every day. THIS is why I 5 box.

If however, I enjoyed live interaction with you creatures I would definitely 3 or 4 box. It's the perfect way to increase your chances of getting a group together in about 2 minutes.

If I was a solo, I would cream at the chance to instance with a Multi-Boxer.
