The OP said that there were no collection quests but when I travelled to Azuremyst Isle to start questing, the second quest I get is "The Great Moongraze Hunt" which is a collection quest - each character has to seperatlely loot moongraze tenderloin 6 times!

Am I doing something wrong?
I think it's fair to say that he cut out almost all the collection quests. In that case I believe the collection quest probably leads to whole chain of kill quests that make it worth the time given the abundance of targets to kill.
Yes, it definitely appears that some collection quests were kept in because they begin rewarding quest chains. I can also confirm that the collection quests still in the guide are there because they have reasonably high drop rates and/or low collection requirements. For example, the moongraze tenderloin drops very regularly (at least it did for me) and on the Horde side (in Thousand Needles) the guide includes a collection quest for some special dirt that appears to drop at 100% off Thundering Boulderkin, and you only have to pickup 2 per character. All in all, very reasonable given that there are so many collection quests aimed at the "typical" solo-levelling in WoW that just become a pain for us multiboxers. Sadly, there seems to be no solution to the collection questing in WotLK...
