Two Copies of WoW - One PC

Original Post: I know, it's been asked a thousand times but for the life of me I can't find any of the threads that had links or explanations for it.

So, can anyone link me or explain how to get two copies of WoW running off one install? I've extremely limited for harddrive space : /
Also, I'm running Windows XP Home.

Also, I don't see why not but, is it possible for me to run both the copies on my two monitor screens Windowed [Maximized]??

I just mannaged to make it work using Octopus. Not sure exactly how I did it, but It works. I mean that Octopus starts 2 instances of WoW from the same directory and all the keystrokes are duplicated in both instances (I didn't set up any macros or key filters or bindings yet). You type something in one instance and it's duplicated in another one. Now I have to sort out what keys I want to use, set up macros, etc.

Set your hotkeys to be unique per character, if that's what you mean. Go to the key bindings option and there is a check box at the top.

When I Alt-tab out from WoW to any other program, Octopus is still sending the keystrokes to both of my game instances. Is there any way to prevent it?

if you're using vista go here to learn how to symbolically link them. there's an xp explination a few posts down as well. when you symbolically link the files you can share the data files (the big ones) but have separate wtf and config files (the small ones) to keep your settings separate. if you read everything thoroughly its easy as pie.

There's an option in Octopus to pause key broadcasting when alt-tabbed. Just look through the different tabs.

Warchamp, the best way to do that IMO is to make two copies of your WoW directories except for the wow\DATA directory, then link the DATA directory in your 2nd account to the DATA directory in the first account. That keeps the space consumed on your hard drive to a minimum, loads faster and totally prevents them from overwriting each other's settings.
