Thread: PvE Progress

Cleared SFK at 20. Only took 3 tries starting at level 18/19. Got to Springvale and beat him but my gear was so shot I had to leave. The next try my team leveled up to all 19's so I was able to make it all the way to Arugal (my gear was trashed after Nandos). Beat Nandos and then got to Arugal and got thorougly stomped, due to my red gear and lower level. Went through a third time and all but one dinged 20 before I got to Arugal (didn't get level 20 skills except on Warrior), beat Arugal after losing the priest twice, my warrior once (soulstone res'd him) and two of my locks. Finished him off with dots luckily.

    Time to start farming it!

Entered Zangarmarsh Saturday fresh at 62, did alot of quests and logged out at about 35% leveled. Came back Sunday did more quests and wound up at about 85% leveled. Then did a Strath Baron run on Monday that dinged me to 63.

So yeah, Zang sucked and there are way too many collection quests there.

Because of my recent Ramps/BF experiences, I will no longer attempt other Outlands instances on my huntards unless I'm over leveled. I will likely attempt Ramps again at 66.

I'm in Zang now and love it, but then I have a prot pally and 4xAoE so for the collection quests I'm just running around collecting mobs with the pally bubbled and bursting them down, I got a /cheer from an ally warrior last night when I did 12 ogres at once lol. It's great how the mobs position themselves so when they die they're in a semicircle The collection quests are great for the gear upgrades. I went into Slave pens last night at 64,63,63,63,63 and then realised that I have actually never been in there before lol so had no idea. I got feared and wiped twice ha ha.

    Anyway:

Carebeared SM all from 25 to 40
Ran the team properly through Ulda x 5 @ 40 - love Ulda
ZF - 48 but always failed at the steps, got the Graz though - didn't like ZF
BRD - 54 - I didn't do well at all so count myslef as pretty lame lol
Ramps - 62 - first boss ok, no wipes. Demon boss guy humiliated me again and again, got him down to 1% and I wiped >.< - prolly go back tonight as I have much better gear now.
    SP - 64 - >.<

I think I might go solo on the pally to learn the instances before I take my team in as for some reason I have never done SP

Cleared Ramps last night! Woohoo. Didn't think that would ever happen, especially at 64. But I've been getting alot of decent gear lately from quests, and Ravager's DPS is really nice compared to bears. I also picked up the 59dps gun from a Nagrand quest, so that helped alot too.

Basically mowed down the first and second boss, then nervously started the third one. Maneuvered (sp?) my huntards and pets out of the fire and managed to down the orc dude. Then the dragon landed and all of my pets were in good health! Amazed, I sent them in and expected the worst. To my amazement my pets weren't even phased by the dragon breath fire thingy. All I had to do was keep mend up, and they were fine. The dragon did crappy white dmg against them too.

Got hit by a few fireballs though. One character almost died, it was pretty close. In the end 3 pets died, that was it!

Right now 99% into 64, I'll ding 65 tonight and pick up a few more quests in Nagrand, but otherwise Nagrand is pretty much done. I tried Blood Furnace but the mines did so much damage I don't think it's even worth attempting it again. The mines didn't kill any of my pets, but they were pretty damn close and I got lucky too. Only killed the first boss.

Okay, I finally get to do one. This attempt was primarily motivated by whiners on the WoW forums talking about how we lack even the most basic skill.

Shadowfang Keep - cleared fully - level 22 holy priest and 4 affliction locks.

General strategy - Succubus is good for this one. Keep them on passive and have lash of pain on auto-cast

Of note - It helps for the locks to have amplify curse, especially on the last boss (although this may be a problem since they all leveled inside the instance to 23 and I then specced it, but I think it can be obtained before). Use amplify curse with Curse of Agony so that the 4 locks end up doing something like 1200 damage just from that spell (on a single mob). The last boss had by far the most health (4500 or so) and you're going to need everything you can muster since he has very nasty abilities (control a group member via worgen transformation, ranged posion attacks that HURT, and a teleport where he just up and runs to the other end of the room).

Certain worgen in the instance, although I don't recall their label now, are immune to shadow spells, so take them on one at a time with immolate and let the succubi handle him.

The wailing guards cast a silence that lasts for a few seconds (but it seems like a lifetime). You're not going to fight them in anything but a group of two at minimum. The trick is to immolate, corrupt, and CoA to a single mob right off the bat and send the succubi after the second. When the silence wears off, have the locks dot up the other mob tanked by the succubi while the priest heals the locks / pets if needed. Sometimes they appear to come in groups of three, but that's just because one is patrolling. Wait until he's gone to ensure a good pull.

The worgen Moonstalkers (or some type of worgen with 'moon' in their name) will cast an anti-magic shield during combat so be sure to have cast anything you want to get through before this happens (usually, you just have time enough for no more than three dots per lock). It will wear off after a few seconds, but they are vulnerable to melee damage even while it is active. Usually, if things are planned and pulled well, you can alternate between two of these at a time since one likely has it's shield down (they appear to be based solely on time since when I am killing quickly, they don't cast at all, but that may be proven wrong with more observation).

Other than that, just be aware of the boss fights since Arugal will summon four voidwalkers after you kill the second-to-last boss. My priest actually died during that fight. Anyhow...

One thing I noticed, and this happened enough not to be my fault, was that the succubi would randomly attack the wrong mob all together, not at all the one that I had the locks targeting. This caused a wipe or two, but I was usually able to deal with it since I kept the priest at full mana.

Like I said, the final boss fight was a real stretch, but that was mostly due to my inattention paid to healing. Now that my healer has quite a few upgrades, I plan on going back a little better prepared to gear the locks.

I had a blast with this and encourage anyone with the means to attempt it to do so.

The grind is really starting to set in for my 4hunters, they have been 67 for a long time now. I have to force myself to play them, and I'm ahead of myself in the outlands, basically the only zone I have left to quest in is Netherstorm. Ramps is the only instance I can easily clear, but at lvl 67 xp gains are minimal for a full clear.

For some reason the fun factor for them has just come to a screeching halt, even ganking people isn't that fun anymore. I think I have my PVE group to thank.

Gonna be a loooooooooong 3 levels.
