Thread: New MS keyboard

    Default New MS keyboard

    I am a g15 (v1) fan.

    But this thing looks impressive.
extreme tech review of ms sidewinder x6
It looks at first like a slightly nerfed g15 with only 1 row of 6 programmable buttons with a switch to give you another 6.

But the numberpad is detachable (and has latches so you can hook it up on the left)
and has a 3 way switch so its numpad/macro1/macro2!!!
Supposedly available in a week or 2 in Australia.

Is it true that programmable keyboard macros can get you banned? I thought that Blizz considered that a no-no.

False. Keyboard macros will only get you banned if you use them to bypass the normal macro restrictions, such as delays.

THIS is the keyboard i'm waiting for.. i'm a G15 (rev1) owner.. and while i LOVE this keyboard.. i believe i might become a bit of a polygamist and marry the X6 as well..... the thing that really gets me is the ability to move the number pad to the left side... i use the numberpad to heal, which means moving my hand off the mouse whenever i need to heal, but with this little setup.. oh man the possibilities.

If only they did it in a "natural" keyboard variation... I just can't go back to a "normal" keyboard layout

Actually... the question was "can" they.
So actually ... Yes, they most definitely can get you banned, but only if you start putting delays in your macros. This is true if you multibox or not.
(Same real answer, just a different "short" answer)

    Default Very Nice Keyboard

I just picked this keyboard up.

Very nice keyboard and high quality. The keys are very light (with respect to pressure) and spaced apart well. I tend to roll my fingers a bit for certain keybindings and having the extra spacing between keys helps protect against miss-presses.

I'm also naturally left-handed so having the numpad on the left is immensely helpful. I have not yet tested the macro keys or any of the hotkeys. I'll post back with an edit after I try a few things out.

Overall, this one gets my recommendation.

Just got the keyboard, not really happy with the programming you can do on it compared to the G15. Still just starting with it, but so far I am unable to find a way to program one "S" key to autorepeat itself till I tap that key again. Also, the autorepeat you can do via combo keying the key you want to repeat and hitting 'the guy running icon' key is very limited in that you cannot choose repeat speed for each key. At this time, I think the first G15 is still the superior product. Just wish mine still worked :/

using autorepeat when playing wow is bannable btw, you didn't say anything about autorepeat in relation to wow so no real problem here, just be aware that using timed delays or auto-repeat in wow can get you banned.

i got this keyboard about a month ago and i love the feel of it. i had a razer tarantula before this and it was a good keyboard, but i just really love the sidewinder. having the numpad on the left really opens up a lot of options, plus you can change the numpad into a macro pad with the press of a button (i had some problems setting up a few macros, but for the most part it works; i just haven't taken the time to tinker with it). The numpad feels really solid on either side, no wiggling, it's held in by strong magnets. also VOLUME KNOB > VOLUME BUTTONS
