If you are setting up a brand new machine I would recommend Vista-64 just so you can push the RAM up to 8GB. The 32-bit RAM limit is being pushed already when 5-boxing WoW on a single machine and it might use even more with the expansion. I also saw some comments on the CPU that it doesn't like Vista-64 so even if you decide to go Vista-64 at a later date that CPU might screw you.

EDIT: You might also want to consider getting 2x 2GB RAM modules instead of 4x 1GB modules. If you decide to upgrade to 8GB you have 2 slots free on the MB and can just plug in another 2x 2GB.

I'll let the other techies answer the comp specific questions, but imo you should definitly go for two screens.

Currently I play on two pretty standard 19"monitors, left monitor is for my main - maximized (set up with keyclone), with top graphic settings. The right monitor has my other four wow clients, all equal in size with low graphic settings. My reasons for having it this way is so I can still experience the nice effects and areas through my main, but can also easily see whats going on with the other four with a quick glance, and if it's needed jump to their screens without fuss.

    Hope this helps,

I'll change it to 2x2gb ram and see how cheap I can find vista 64 for
and my monitor is a 23 inch widescreen, so even with some overlapping I can see most of all the windows

anyone guesses if it will run 5 wows or die trying?

The hardware is overkill for 5 instance of wow. The problem being vista increases the memory requirement quite a bit.
Vista need around 2 gigs of memory without paging anything out to the hard drive each instance of wow needs anywhere from 200-500 megs
once yeh get to an area where yeh need more memory then yeh have available stuff gets paged out to the hard drive which causes lag. Which could cause anything from loosing follow on one char to as bad as watching a slide show depends on a variety of things.

If yeh cant get vista64 I would stick with XP.
Yeh can make vista32 work just fine but yeh need to tweak it and wow some.
If yeh get vista64 get 8 gigs of memory.
