Cannot connect 2 WoW accounts at the same time

Hello,

I've been dual-boxing for a few weeks now, but i keep getting a weird problem while trying to connect 2 accounts at the same time. I open up one WoW that's on HDD #1, connect, no problem. But then i try to connect with WoW on HDD #2, and i get stuck at connecting and it says unable to connect.

So i tried switching em up, running WoW on HDD #2 first. Can open, can connect, everything is fine. So i try to open WoW on HDD #1, bam, can't connect.

So i was wondering if this was a known issue or was i the only one having it? I tried searching for other threads but couldn't get anything usefull.

Sorry if it's a noob question, but it's really starting to bug me. I tried all the tricks, flush dns, ip release/renew, rebooting modem/router/computer. Usually, after a couple attempts at reseting and clearing stuff, i can manage to connect. But it gets really annoying doing this every single time.

Strange problem. Does the computer that you are using have a global non-translated IP address? It might be possable that your network is setup such that your router which is doing NAT is translating incoming ports to different internal hosts. It is more probable that device doing your translation is a piece of crap and needs to be drop kicked.

If you are using a cheapo POS home cable modem router, see if you can borrow one from someone else, drop it in there using all defaults and see if you have the same problem.

I have a D-LINK WBR-2310. Don't think this is such a "cheap" router, but i don't know.

When the problem first occurred, i had a static IP address (for port forwarding and such), i tried resetting it back to automatic but got the same problem anyway.

What's weird is that it worked for the first couple of times, now it just won't work at all.

is yoru firewall on ? if so , it might be locking the second instance of wow as that connection is already being made by the first one.

No, i don't have any firewall activated.

Update: I tried opening one WoW, loging in, flushing my DNS, then trying to log 2nd WoW. Now i get to the "Success!" part but it stays there and i can't access my charcaters. I tried using DRTCP and chaning my MTU to 1400 but still nothing, stuck at success again.

I disable all my port forwarding, reboot my router/modem/pc multiple times and still nothing.

This is really starting to annoy me greatly... Worst part is that it worked perfectly for the first couple of days, and i didn't change anything.

Update:

I tried connecting my internet straight into the modem to my computer and it works fine. So it's really an issue with the router. I'll try and dig some more to fix this so if it happens to anyone else they'll know what to do.

I am having this same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? (It occurs when running multiple copies of the same exe and when running different copies)

From the sounds of this, it maybe your router. Not all routers do NAT the same way. Most do inside port translation. Some will do source ip translation. This causes a problem when two client on the inside using private addresses are trying to connect to the same global address. Connect your computer directly to the Internet and see if that fixes your problem. If it does, upgrade your router.

Sounds like you have the port-forwarding, virtual server or application rules feature turned on...

The WBR-2310 can be configured as a virtual server so that remote users accessing Web or FTP services via the public IP address can be automatically redirected to local servers in the LAN (Local Area Network).
The WBR-2310 firewall feature filters out unrecognized packets to protect your LAN network so all computers networked with the WBR-2310 are invisible to the outside world. If you wish, you can make some of the LAN computers accessible from the Internet by enabling Virtual Server. Depending on the requested service, the WBR-2310 redirects the external service request to the appropriate server within the LAN network.
The WBR-2310 is also capable of port-redirection meaning incoming traffic to a particular port may be redirected to a different port on the server computer.
Each virtual service that is created will be listed at the bottom of the screen in the Virtual Servers List. There are
pre-defined virtual services already in the table. You may use them by enabling them and assigning the server IP to use that particular virtual service.

Some applications require multiple connections, such as Internet gaming, video conferencing, Internet telephony and others. These applications have difficulties working through NAT (Network Address Translation). Special Applications makes some of these applications work with the WBR-2310. If you need to run applications that require multiple connections, specify the port normally associated with an application in the “Trigger Port” field, select the protocol type as TCP or UDP, then enter the firewall (public) ports associated with the trigger port to open them for inbound traffic. This is probably screwing you up.
The WBR-2310 provides some predefined applications in the table on the bottom of the web page. Select the application you want to use and enable it.

A simple solution: Make your computer the DMZ, but make sure you are using a software firewall.
