    Default Dread(ed)steed quest and materials

A question for those that have done the quest via multiboxing.

What mats in the questline is it okay for just one toon to have? There are a lot of mats involved and just curious if anyone knows. I just killed about 400 Owlbeasts (who knows maybe a moonkin, too. ) and bought 15 black dragonscales from the AH (killed 7 dragons and got one scale so I said screw that!).

Any help would be most appreciated.

I have not yet mboxed locks to be able to answer your question on a personal basis. However I do have several friends and guildmates that have done the quest and then gave the mats to someone else so that they could do it too. In theory you should be able to get the mats for one then do each toon individually. Once completed just swap the mats to the next in line. Yes if you have 5 locks it will be a pain but the savings in time and money spent on mats will be worth it.

It's been forever since I've done the quest but I remember my ally lock still having the mats (or at least the expensive ones) left over after the quest. I think everyone will get credit with just one set of mats as long as everyone has the quest.

I know there are some mats each lock has to have to complete the quest up to a certain point. Then there are those that only one lock needs. I'll figure it out soon enough! Making some real progress today. Got my scholo key..heading back to burning steppes to turn in xorothian dust and elixir of shadow.

Think I'm going to end up using my locks more than my other teams so i feel like pampering them I suppose. Drakes will be on the list as well!

    Blast3r,
http://wowmb.net/index.php?page=Dreadsteed ... not sure if you've ever used this site. Just thought I'd throw this out there in case you haven't. Hope this helps.

I think you are confusing things a bit. There is a bunch of stuff you need to collect, which are quest items, i.e. no trade. Once you are done with all the prequests and you have the final dreadsteed quest you need to buy some stuff from the vendor next to the questgiver.

However, all this stuff is not single use. It can be used forever, but only by the char who bought it. That means, you need to buy the three final bits only with one char, that does the trick for y our group. You can also take this char along with anyone else who wants the mount to help them out. Just make sure you got plenty of shards, since you will consume a bunch in the ritual.

One of the tips I saw previously... Pay another lock who has already done the quest and still has their items to come along and help you. They will know which items that they need and which ones you need to buy. Offer a generous sum in trade and I'm sure you'll find someone.

I think the link that has already been posted is the site I saw the tip on. From memory it does save a lot of gold and grinding to get those items.

The quest itself is a pain to finish, or maybe I have the wrong group of something, me(65 lock), paladin(70), warroir(65), mage(65), rouge(65), took my group almost 2 hours to complete the quest, got a group wipe on the final boss. I am planning to start a 5lock or 4 lock 1 priest team. I am still try to find out how I am going to get my locks to get their epic mount.

The 3 items, bell, wheel and candle is reusable, only one lock need to bring it, i think the other locks can recharge them in the final quest to get the mount.

i haven't multiboxed this with more than 1 lock (dual boxed it with a pally and lock quite a few times) but what is presume you would be best doing is enslaving the felguards once they appear and setting them to aggressive to take care of the mobs. once you have enslaved your mobs back your locks from the fight and let the felguards do their work and just concentrate doing the upkeep of the items with your main. if any mobs go for your main, bolt them with focused fire from your other locks. the fels should last you well into the boss fight (if not the whole event).. hope this helps

It is not difficult. The ritual nodes give you health and mana over time, armor and do AoE damage. The AoE damage is sufficient to mow down the imps. While the nodes are up, just don't push any buttons, avoiding that you blow your mana while you don't have to. Pick the felguards apart. Then pick your moment and AoE nuke if it gets too much. I found that bringing a paladin tank and dropping downranked consecration made this trivial and much much easier than running clothies only.

Back in the day I made a clip about how to do this when helping a guildmate getting his quest done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3TkBcVQZhI
