And damn that day will suck for money if it is the 13th heheh.
6 Collectors editions to pick up + Guitar Hero: World Tour is released here on the 12th as well....given the midnight release would be on the 12th, that will be ~$1k spent on games in one day.
wowhead is eastcoast, so perhaps there was some sort of contractual term ambiguity
then again this technique is often used to heighten buzz
there sure are a ton of people waiting to see what blizzard will announce at midnight
i suspect that's why wotlk site is slow (getting hammered with F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5F5)
edit: I actually meant this heightens the buzz for WotLK, which would make sense because WAR is getting released this Thursday.
Brilliant marketing move if true. We'll probably see the ship date ultimately pushed back, but this is meant to take some steam out of WAR's opening sales.

at the end of the day don't assume any dates are 100% correct no matter what they say unless it comes from the horses mouth!
as per mmcookies response this is proberly just to generate extra traffic to wowhead!
And according to wowhead it did come from the horses mouth
As I said, I cant see what their (or thottbot since its there too) motive would be but driving extra traffic to their site most likley isn't it. They are an official blizzard fansite and doubt they'd want to jepodise that relationship since it's theroetically possible blizzard could sue them for copyright infringement (making money off Blizzard IP) if they were no longer an official fansite.
Most likley scenario is an embargoed pre-release dated 15/11/08 and WoWHead went with it literally on that date to get the scoop + not run foul of Blizzards nda....since Blizzard are in a different timezone, and possibly expected most places to announce in the morning rather than at 12:01, they didn't have time to announce officially before the online outlets went with it.
that's actually a well-known marketing technique to leverage "scoop" to heighten buzz in the media industry (don't forget vivendi is also in this activizzard chimera)Originally Posted by 'Knytestorme',index.php?page=Thread&postID=121311# post121311
using a well-established community site to spread the news through the grapevine to get people excited hours before announcing it officially
i'm not saying that's what happening here, but it could potentially be a slap to WAR's opening week sales
it's easy to forget on these forums that most gamers are on a budget,
and knowing an "official" release date for WotLK might convince at least some of them to save their money

Oh I definately agree that's the reason it was done, but I was pointing out why it was most likely the correct date to counter the posts above mine.
ah... haha, guess i'm just too excited about thisOriginally Posted by 'Knytestorme',index.php?page=Thread&postID=121320# post121320
