Have a different email address of your friend's account ( you ) that you're going to do the request for. It may be fine if it's the same email, but for me, I've always had them different. You can create up to 3 trial accounts at the same time with the same email address and IP address. After that, the accounts can be upgraded to full copies either online or buying the game from the store and using the key. You can then create more trial accounts from the same email, but you won't be able to create them from the same IP address as you'll get an error 203 message when you attempt it. You'll need to wait awhile ( about 2 weeks I believe is what I found when using the same IP address ) if you attempt to create the trial accounts from the same IP address. From a different IP address, you can create up to 3 trial accounts within the two week limit.

For downloading the game, you never have to download them if you've already got the game installed. You just skip that step as it should be the final step in the chain of creating the trial account. When you set up a new account on your machine, there is a directory created under the WTF directory under your WoW installation path. That contains things such as macros, certain game settings for that account that are specific to an account. Also under that path are your character directories that also contain macros, etc that are specific for character configuration.

Some say it's best to have multiple copies of wow on your machine, however, I've found one copy of WoW works fine even while using six instances of the game running. It might be just a matter of preference or if you have game wide settings you want to have different for each instance ( I don't know which game wide setting would be important to have a complete installation of the game copied on your machine for ) or it might be the believe that the game will run better with multiple copies as to why some have it on their machines or it might be that some never tried using a single installation path for multiple instances. Whatever it is, I've always run with only one copy of WoW and haven't found anything wrong with doing so.
