I prefer to keep my macro count to a minimum as well, but if you really want more then you will need to use an addon of some kind. I use TrinityBars2, but some find it a bit difficult. There is one called Super Duper Macro that seems to look good, but it is still under development. I've also heard that BindPad will also support more macros, but I have not used it.
