WoW Account / Mutli-Boxing Question

OK, I am new to multi-boxing. I have 2 accounts, both under my name and RAF Linked. A third account I have, I originally bought for my wife, and it's under her name (which happens to be different than mine...another story for another day..). Unfortunately, she never caught on to the game and never plays it. I have some high level toons on that account.

All 3 mailing / billing addresses are the same. All 3 are paid with the same credit card under my name. Am I safe to tri box these 3 accounts?

Is it worth reaching out to Blizzard to get her account under my name? Obviously, when I bought the first 2 accounts, I had no intentions of multi boxing or I would have used my name for both.

Any assistance , feedback is appreciated.

Even if when they check the 3 accounts and all the connections are coming from the same IP? How would they prove that my wife wasn't controlling one of the 3 toons? Man, I'd hate to have to buy a 4th account to tri-box.

Yeah see, that's why I thought the same thing. I was all paid for with my credit card. X( But after reading here and going back over TOS, as much as it stinks, that's just the way it is. I guess something for the suggestions link on the wow site. But you'll have to purchase another account if you want to box it.

Limitations placed on Account Access
The ToU speaks extensively about what you may and may not do with a World of Warcraft account. This section highlights a few passages from the ToU that are most relevant to this policy. The core message is that you, and only you (with the exception of a minor authorized to use an account by a parent or guardian), should be accessing an account registered in your name.

Blizzard Entertainment does not recognize the transfer of Accounts between individuals. (Section 1E of the ToU)
You may not share your Account or password with anyone, except that if you are a parent or guardian, you may permit one (1) minor child to use the Account instead of you (in which case you may not use that Account at the same time). (Section 1A of the ToU)
You are liable for all activities conducted through the Account, including any activities which may be conducted by your minor children that you allow to use your Account. (Section 1A of the ToU)
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your User Name and password, and you will be responsible for all uses of your User Name and password whether or not authorized by you. Security of your account is your responsibility. (Section 1D of the ToU)

How would they prove that my wife wasn't controlling one of the 3 toons?

For one, you're planning on multiboxing it. A very easy way to figure out if it's being multiboxed is -- are they making keypresses at the same period in time with a consistency and frequency that is hard, if not impossible to reproduce if a second person was playing a character?

I'm sure there are other ways to verify -- for example, Warden makes regular scans of your computer (don't start whining -- you agreed to let WoW do this when you accepted the ToU/Eula) and if you're a software boxer, I'm sure they'd notice the software multiplexer and/or the existence of other open WoW windows on your computer.

Identifying a multiboxer is not rocket science.

I used to work in finance, and legally we were allowed to speak with the spouse on any thing related to the other. You could basically treat a married couple as an individual. I find it bizarre that this privilege does not extend to WoW accounts.

Anyways, you could avoid all these problems by paying $30 for WoW battlechess and opening a new account as RAF. That way all 3 characters get 3x exp. If your wife doesn't play her account anymore then cancel it and let her play one of the 3 new characters when she gets an itch.

Apologies if this is skirting too close to the wrath of Vyndree, but I believe people in the past have done paid character transfers to get toons off accounts with a different name, ie Joe Smith has 2 accounts in his name and has toons on his brother Jeff Smith's account, he paid transfers them off to a new account in Joe Smith's name. Then he has 3 accounts with the same info. To my knowledge that's about the only way to "rehab" a situation of a shared account to make one pretty safe from scrutiny once multiboxing. In virtually all cases the answer I've read (as a noob to the hobby) is "don't risk it, it's an open and shut case for Blizzard to detect, prove, and ban for it. Besides with RAF it's cake to reproduce toons on new accounts"

Sounds like your last names don't match, which makes the above most likely impossible. So multiboxing with that toon invites the banstick.

It's not necessarily MY wrath, but Blizzard's wrath you'd be facing in this case. Just because you don't get CAUGHT for doing something like this, doesn't mean it's not against the rules.

The reason this sort of thing is even remotely doable is because its INTENTION was so that people who made accounts like "Bob Smith" and "Robert Smith" -- where Bob is a nickname for Robert -- could transfer characters between his two owned accounts. It is NOT intended for the use of transferring "Susan Smith"'s character to her cousin, "Joebob Smith"'s account.

There should be a very clear distinction in the WOW character transfer FAQ about it... I'd link it but I'm running a little late at work so I'll stick a To-do here for me to give the link/quote when I get home.

RAF can be opened by you? Is this within TOS guidelines?
