    Default [EQ2] Keyclone

I am trying to get keyclone to work on 2 EQ2 computers right now and I am having trouble getting it to work. I have downloaded the 1.7m version and installed it on 2 computers (both Vista). When I attempt to connect the 2 computers I am getting a ping of 0.0. One system doesn't even show the other after a few moments. It just drops off the title/status bar after 20 seconds or so. The other computer it stays up but doesn't appear to connect.
    Any help please?

make sure you are allowing the keyclones to communicate with each other. check your windows firewall settings.

as an fyi... you should have a hardware firewall for your network... therefore not needing a software firewall. i personally like the netgear equipment. pretty simple to install and fairly cheap.

as an fyi.. i did investigate EQ2 and found that they are doing some extremely unorthodox methods of gathering input. as such, keyclone has no mechanism with which to interact. ie: it won't work.

as i understand, if you run innerspace by lavishsoft, and then run keyclone (or vice versa), it should work. i have not tried it, but i have been told.

be forewarned, innerspace is one of those applications that could get you banned.

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but I thought I'd chime in here about innerspace as I've used it quite a bit in the past. Innerspace itself is a platform for launching and interacting with directx games. The program, after launching the game, becomes a layer between you and the game and includes features like fully controlling window size and position, picture in picture, HUDs showing FPS and mem usage, and an extremely elaborate scripting system with which you could use to control the afore mentioned features. In this way, I would liken it more to an souped up EQW type program that launched eq in a window.

However, it allows for the creation of powerful addons that allow you to read memory of games as well as send input to them (again backed by a scripting system). These optional addons are what get people banned, not innerspace itself. I honestly believe there have been no known occurrences of someone getting banned by simply launching their game with innerspace. Innerspace users get banned from WoW by loading the ISXWoW module which is sometimes caught by blizzards detection algorithm.

Innerspace itself is not dangerous, it simply facilitates the use of optional intrusive code for more advanced control of a game.

There was a spat a while back between the owner/programmer of glider (bot program) and the owner/programmer of Innerspace. As far as I could tell from the glider forums to do with the code that at the time prevented WoW's Warden from detecting Innerspace, and the the Glider author wasn't prepared to license the code form Innerspace to stop his users getting banned.

I have no idea how the spat ended (and don't care much) but I do recall reading at the time that Innerspace users have been banned! Mainly as Blizzard state that the only reason to have Innerspace installed/running concurrently with WoW is to use illegal mods. Warden has in the past certainly detected Innerspace.

That all said how the owners of EQ2 feel about it I have no idea. But if Blizzard consider it a threat to their revenue then I could see it being moderated against by other MMO companies.
