    Default keyclone v1.8k 21jun2008a comments

I have a few comments concerning keyclone 21jun2008a.

    1. first thank you for developing the software.

    2. do we have the ability to shrink or move the "mute" box. I play with 3, 4, or 5 regions and it is large enough to get in the way with my 4 region configuration.

    3. can we rename a command? If I try to rename a command keyclone actually creates a new command. I realize I could create a new command and delete the old command.

    4. sometimes my wow regions (3, 4, or 5) lockup. I am not able to see the mouse pointer unless I navigate it to the bottom of the screen over the Windows toolbar. I then need to use the task manager to remove keyclone and the wow sessions. Is this an issue with keyclone?

    5. about 1/4 to 1/2 of the time after I exit from all of my wow sessions I must use the Windows task manager to exit/end keyclone. The keyclone icon tooltip does not come up from the Windows toolbar to allow me to exit keyclone.

    6. my display is 1680x1050. I tried the keyclone provided layout for 1680x1050x1 and 5 regions.

    http://www.solidice.com/keyclone/layouts/index.html

The first and larger region on the left is clipped up to the third slot on the lower left action bar in the WOW session. I tried changing the maximizer region size, resoltion defined in the maximizer interface without success. Matter of fact changing the resolution in the maximizer interface did not seem to do anything. That brings me to my final point.

    7. It would be nice if keyclone had tooltips or content help added to explain the fields. For example, what does changing the resolution in the maximer interface actually do.

Edit: I forgot to mention I have a Dell XPS700 with 2GB of memory and running Windows XP with the latest Microsoft patches.

G'morning Camelot and welcome to the forums!

for future reference, sending me a PM instead of posting these types of questions to the public forum would be better. there is no one else that is really going to answer...

    anyhow, on to your questions:

yes, you can move or resize the override overlay (the "mute" box). to resize, grab the border.. to move, left click and drag the center of the box.

i made it so you could 'tweak' existing commands to create a new command by simply changing the name. this makes setting up 5 commands fairly trivial. there is no real renaming capability... you'd have to select it in the list and hit 'del' to remove it

regions locking up? do you mean the wow is frozen? that's a problem, as wow should not be locking up on you. if that is not what you mean, please supply more info

the freeze-on-exit is a known bug that happens if you use the X in the upper right when exiting. instead, right-click the tool tray and exit that way until the next version is released.

as for layouts... you can create any layout you want. the ones on the layout pages are examples and are by no means a comprehensive list of possibilities

as for what the various fields are for, i have posted the information numerous times. the fields are fairly self explanatory:

as for what 'game resolution' does... it is the resolution you are telling wow to render. it is best to put in the size of your largest region, and all your smaller regions should have the same width : height ratio. for more information on exactly what wow does with this info, ask blizzard

and btw... 2G is barely enough to play 5 wows... and definitely not enough if you load up on addons

You can click and drag the Mute box to wherever you want it, I wouldn't want to shrink it due to the fact that it would be useless if I didn't notice it was there.

Your problems with crashing and freezing etc are because you run out of system resources, not a problem with keyclone.
In windows XP, i've found that each wow client typically uses about 500MB of RAM, so I would suggest getting 4 gig of ram since that seems to be barely enough for me.
Most of your problems are related to running out of memory.

The resolution setting in the bottom part of the maximizer setting window is what resolution wow will be running in that window, I run all mine on 800x600 regardless of their size on the screen to save system resources.

EDIT: Looks like someone else did reply after all, eh, Keyclone?

    Default regions locking...

One thing I have noticed while playing 5 wows at once is that the nVidia driver will eventually go insane and enter a restarting loop (this is in vista - i don't think XP had the ability to recover from a graphics driver lockup) at which point i can only close up shop and restart the machine.

At first I tried a number of different nVidia driver versions, which didn't help. Most recently I downloaded the nVidia overclocking tool and turned the gfx card fan to 100% and underclocked my graphics card slightly. This seems to help a lot and i can normally run sessions for hours and hours without trouble, but every now and then it still goes ape on me.

I think my next step would be to try a water cooler, or maybe a different brand of video card (though BFG isn't known to be junk afaik, but it was one of the kind that came pre-overclocked, so that was likely the issue)

I play with an ATI Radeon 4850 and I had that graphic card has recovered issue and I fixed it actually by turning off one of my settings in my Catalyst drivers.
