let me see if i have this right with the RAF thing, i have a current account, i have another somewhere but i dont think i can use it as a RAF accont since it was activated at one point lastyear i think, but if i got another account and started a toon there, and started a toon on my main account, leveled them up (to what level i dont know to get the bonus) and i can say gift levels to my already 33 shaman on the main account? and get it to 60? is that what this means? if so i'll go get another account this weekend, and run 2 versions of wow on same pc, delete a character slot on my main account and roll a new toon with the other accounts toon.....what level do you have to get to gift? is it for every 3 levels you can grant 1 or something like that?

Shad in general you are correct, though with the arrival of the RAF program, the locals who have been multi-boxing for a long time have been swamped with people asking questions that have already been answered dozens of times. I was guilty of it a little myself, doing searching and reading the wiki here and the FAQ on RAF at the official site will help a ton.

If you go into the account management of your main account and hit the RAF tab and email yourself to invite yourself, you get an email with an activation key for a trial linked to your main. You then set up an account using that key, then (likely) activate vanilla wow and TBC. At that point if you have toons from the main account and new acount grouped together they get the bonus if they are equal level and below level 60. The new account generates one gift level for each 2 levels they gain , starting with the first one at L3. The gift levels can be given to any toon on the main account that is below the level of the gifter. You're not supposed to be able to gift a toon to above 60, but apparently it may be possible for now.

There are other bonuses associated with the link (summoning, rare mount), and the link is active for 90 days.

so that will get me the trial period where i can do that , but afte rthe trial is up i need to go buy another copy of wow/bc to activate it perm. right? but before then i can just use the trial code to level them up for the trial period? or can i use that other account i haven't used and has been disc over a year toa ctivate it with, my thinking says no but i want to make sure... guess basically what i'm trying to say is i can go ahead and get everything going now, just i have to get the new copy of wow before the trial runs out right? and isn't it something i have to activate to full and keep it for x months before i can use any of the gifted levels or get mount etc..?

If I understand you correctly, you have a main account and a second account currently, and the second one may not be active right now.

You can invite yourself to start a trial account from your main account or the second account (if you reactivate it) and create the trial account. you can group a lowbie from the trial account with a lowbie from the linked account and they will get the bonus. While you are on the 10-day trial you will be limited, such as max level of 20, no trading, no using the AH, no TBC, a host of limitations.

To lift the limitations of the trial account you must activate the account to a normal account. you can do this online or get a box from retail.

Since you give the referring account a free month and you get a free month with a new account on top of the 10 days, the initial cost of a new account is offset a good bit. A battlechest of WoW and TBC is 29.99 at gamestop right now, and the RAF generates 70 free days of account activity, which is roughly $35 of value.

You can get things in motion right now, for example you can log on to your account from work or school and invite yourself, then go to your email and follow the links and set up the account before going home. You could stop and buy a battlechest on the way and turn the trial into upgraded accounts when you got home.

Regarding when you can gift levels, you could group your new account guy and a lowbie from your main account, get them both to level 3, and the guy from the new account could gift a level to a level 1 or 2 on your main account. not smart to do since leveling is so easy that low, but possible. I believe the rare mount only becomes available once the referred (new) account pays for monthly subscription or something similar. Like I said, do some searching here and on the official site, the RAF FAQ on blizzard's site is pretty good.
