Jumping doesn't break follow, unless you're swimming or flying because then it's considered like you are moving up.
So yea you'd need to bind a movement to another key, or alternatively bind your spacebar to a movement instead of a jump for your alt(s).
That way they break follow when you jump on your main, although that could sometimes be annoying now that I think about it.
