Thread: ISO a laptop!

  1. #1

    Default ISO a laptop!

I'm in search of a laptop that would be able to run my quadbox without effort. So I've been scanning around and it seems there isn't much quad CPU material out.

So I'm looking at the x9000 cpu, which is rather expensive however. So I wonder, do I really need that kind of power?

I've had my eyes on a dell, but that one is € 3300 +, or alienware that's $ 4100 dollars +. The latter being a tad bit cheaper in comparison, but hmm, would it not be possible to run a quad on a good core2duo?

I'm only used to boxing on a quad cpu. :<

Do note, it has to be PvP worthy! Anyone has some advise they could give me while I'm searching for what fits me best? D:

If you search around on here you'll find people who use the Dell WoW XPS laptop to multibox. I'm sure with another monitor you'll be able to do 5 on any high end laptop that's on the market now.

Alright, the X9000 variant I imagine. XPS also comes with dual-core, not sure if it's cutting it.

I'm planning a vacation, but want to be able to PvP without lag! (Just arena to keep into it. No worries, I'm not -that- far gone yet! xD )

Well when my roommate gets his fixed I could try it. But who knows when it'll get fixed. It's already had the Motherboard replaced, and Dell is sending us Another HDD and memory.

    Frigging Dell.

At least I yanked his 'exclusive' WoW screensavers.

I used to 5 box on a XPS gen2 laptop with 2 gig of memory, this is an older model with a p4 2.0 ghz and a geforce go 6800 vid card. The only issues I had were in large cities with graphic rendering lag. The laptop now is 3 years old and use it when traveling. After several hours of 5 boxing it would get pretty hot, but the older xps had a poor cooling system design and it is supposed to be addressed in the newer m1710. The only real drawback I personally had with the gen2 is the weight and battery life, but alas it is a gaming rig and the closest thing to a desktop replacement.

You know, this doesn't sound very promising, haha. xD

    I've setup 5x boxing on an Alienware M9750 (core2 duo T7200, 4GB ram dual go 8700GT 512 running SLI & Vista Ultimate 32bit)

the main was running at 60fps (low detail settings and the 4 slaves were running around 25-30). quite surprised as i didn't think it would be quite so playable.

price of the laptop was £2,200 ($3,843 approx)

We got it back up. Dell actually gave us free overnight shipping on the parts because we were nice to the trainee.

Went with the Dell XPS, T9300, 2x 512Mb SLI, 4gb ddr and a solid state HD.

The X9000 was a bit out of my league price wise still. :O

This will have to do! Thanks for the suggestions etc. Always tough to buy something expensive. xP
