Installed new RAM and having issues

I'm currently 5 instancing on a 2 yr old computer. Things run pretty smooth but I have to avoid Shatt and the Isle or it will lock up. I upgraded from 2 gb to 4 gb of RAM thinking I'd be able to grind SSO rep and use the portals in Shatt, however after replacing the RAM sticks I start getting progressively worse fps. The maxfps is set to 40 on the main and it is usually at that with 2 gb but with the new 4 gb it starts at 35 and gets worse the longer I play no matter what I'm doing. While doing the 2 SSO quests in Hellfire I saw my average fps drop noticeably.

I thought putting new RAM in was as easy as it got for hardware upgrades but apparently I can screw that up. I did put the old RAM back in though and it's working good again. Any one have any theories for what might be going on?

Is your ram running different frequency's?
check to see if your ram is pc2800, pc3200, pc4000? It should all be the same or you will have issues. Also make sure your motherboard supports 4 gigs.

You also may want to up the voltage a bit to cover droop. Like knock it up 1 increment. If you're not sure about what you're doing google vdroop and intel to get an overview of the concept.

The frequency is the same, it is a kit of dual 2gb sticks ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122 ) that replaced the original dual 1gb sticks. Also, I have made sure that the motherboard does support 4gb of RAM. Thank you! :thumbup:

I found an article explaining vdroop ( http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=126 ) and I guess I am having trouble understanding what an increase in power to the CPU will do to alleviate issues caused by new RAM? Enlightening read regardless 8) thanks!

Any other ideas or thoughts? I can provide other information if it might be useful as well!

Try checking what you have your virtual memory set at. That might help. I had the same problem with it at one time then when I upped my memory I had to up the memory allocated.
