Started MB on Friday night. One small question.

With the RAF leveling madness available i figured it was a perfect time to try out some multiboxing to level up some alts. For now I'm just interested in leveling up alts to play on their own later. Who knows, I might eventually have to try out a 5-man team if I really get bitten by the MB bug. :P I'm just running two instances of WoW on my Mac Pro with two monitors. My first pair is a Warlock and a Priest. I have the warlock as the main and the Priest as the slave. Early last night I hit 26 with them, so many thanks to the forums here are in order. :thumbsup:

I have just one small question. Right now I'm having the Priest set the Warlock as the focus. Each spell I have on the Priest is redone as a macro to be taking the target from the focus. Is this the best way to do it? It definitely all works, but it's also a bit of a pain to have to make a macro for each new spell as she learns them.

You will have to make a macro for each spell. The good thing is that if you don't tell the spell what rank to use, it will use the highest one.

2 things you could do,

if the priest is dpsing you can hit tab to target the mob to attack without macro. Downside to this is that the priest might not pick the same mob as you and now you have 2 mobs to worry about.

if the priest is just healing, target your lock and just hit your heal button, just make sure that your priest doesn't untarget your lock.

Ok cool. I'll continue on the same way as I have been. Right now I'm speccing the Priest for Shadow so she's most definitely DPSing. So far, healing hasn't come into play too much since things die so quickly.

Well if you're going to do the focus targetting thing, then yes you'll have to make new macros for every new spell that you want to target off of your focus. It's either that or have an assist button that you spam before every spell cast.
That sounds troublesome to me.
So how do we hack your life and make it a little faster?

1 possibility: Instead of making a new macro, just add on to existing macros by changing

/target focustarget
/cast Smite

to (for instance)

/target focustarget
/castsequence reset=7 Shadow Word: Pain, Holy Fire, Smite

The reason for the reset=7 is because 1 second global cooldown from SW:P + 2.5 second cast time for Smite and 3.5 cast time for Holy Fire. These numbers change depending on spec, etc, as do your powers (I didn't include stuff like Mind Flay or Vampiric Embrace)

Hmm... Now this is something I might just have to do. I'm pretty much always doing the same rotation of spells on both the Priest and Warlock so this would make it pretty simple. Thanks.

If im not mistaken, that reset restriction you have added just reset the macro if you dont use the macro for 7 seconds.. Meaning that if you spam that button it will just start over again when it hits the last spell. Then that 7 sec restriction is pointless. change the reset=target instead and add some more smites to the coctail.

Swoon, it sounds like you're using keyclone...I might be wrong. Since you're setting focus with the priest, why not /assist focus (1 macro button) so you can cast un-macro'd spells since you'll then be targeting what your lock has targeted? Acquire target with the lock, hit the /assist focus for the priest, start blasting. It's how I'm doing it with my 5x shammies. Of course, whatever buttom maps you have for your lock will need to be something corresponding on the priest with keyclone. If the lock shadowbolts, your priest could smite, etc.

Here's the macro:

/target focus
/assist
/follow
/stopcasting

Well... You know what? I am using clonekeys (on a Mac) and I already had that macro in use. I guess I just wasn't using it properly though. But now that I am, no more silly macros for each and every spell. Thanks!
