Synergy Broadcasting to Client AND Server

I am having some troubles setting Synergy up to broadcast to both my client and server. I'm currently running a 3 character setup, with 1 on my server and 2 on my client box. The clients both respond fine but the keys never get sent to the server.

I downloaded the zip file containing the "broadcast version" but I don't see any difference. I have read that I need to do the following:

"Create a new hotkey to toggle broadcasting on and off."

The problem that I'm having is that I don't see an option in the hotkeys for "broadcast" and it sounded from previous topics like this should be a simple operation. I am probably missing something simple here but am unable to come up with an answer for it after searching around online and through these forums today.

I tried running the files directly from the build folder that is located in the zip file, as well as copying them over to the latest non-broadcast version of synergy. Neither seems to help. :?

If someone could please point me in the right direction that would be amazing. Thanks!

I'm at work atm, but (from memory) one of the 4 buttons in the middle of the window...i think it's configure...should open up another window which will have a "+" and "-" underneath 2 adjacent windows. Click on the left "+" sign then click on "assign keystroke" or something like that. Then hit "ok" or what ever closes that window.

In the window to the right, click on the "+" under that window. A menu with several options should come up which include assigning a keystroke to broadcasting.

Assign your keystroke then close that window and click OK and you should be Gtg.

I'm sorry if this is very crude, but I'm going from memory. Set mine up a while ago. When I get home I'll update this if you need me too. Just wanted to post something to get you going in the right direction.

I think I may need to wipe synergy then and just re-download the broadcasting version.

The problem was that I am not seeing anything for broadcasting in that menu. I can see the press, release, press & release options, etc., but there is no broadcasting option there.

I'm willing to bet that I am not actually running the 'broadcast' version for whatever reason so I'll try that and post tonight when i get home as to whether or not it worked.

Thanks for the reply! At least I know what is wrong now and that I'm wasn't going down the wrong path. Just probably using the wrong software.

Here some illustrations to set up the "broadcasting" function of Synergy. You have to use the broadcasting version from this post:

1. Open Synergy and locate the "Hot Keys" button.


2. In the new window click on the left "+" button.


3. In the new window, place your cursor in the blank text box and press a button you want to use as your “Broadcasting” toggle key, the click “OK.”


4. Now, Click on the right “+” button. (notice your toggle key in the left window)


5. In the new window make sure the “Toggle keyboard broadcasting” is selected. You don’t have to check any other boxes if you don’t want to. Click “OK.”


6. Your broadcasting key is now almost set up. Click “OK.”


7. Click “Test” to test your toggle key and other features OR just click “start” and then “ok” when the confirmation window appears.

8. GO PWN SUMPUM! Enjoy.
