Patch 2.3 introduces a change where if you mouse over a corpse it'll tell you which character can loot it, if there's loot you can't see (such as quest items) so that you can skin/whatever

The high end cloths need primals, but not primals made only by alchemists. Alchemists can transmute from one type of primal into another on their daily cooldown but they need 1 kind to make another. All of the primals needed to make the cloths themselves can be gathered from mobs in the form of motes. Alchemists make Primal Might, which combines a bunch of the primals into 1 might (ie, fire, air, water, nature, etc) The Primal Mights are used for lots of things: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23571

Alchemy is by far the easiest crafting trade skill to level. Whether or not alchemy is useful to you is a different story.

As was said, you don't need primal might for too many things, but you'll likely need a few depending on the professions you decide on. Don't take alchemy just for getting primal mights. It does have some cooldowns that might be able to make you money, but if you want them you can just power level alchemy when you get to 50.

Mining is the best money maker of the gathering professions but is also the hardest to level. Skinning is easy and usually sells reliably in my experience, while herbalism is in the middle on all sides.

    pve setup:

pally: mining + herbalism (he got the collector professions so I don't need to switch everytime I see something)

    priest: enchanter, Tailoring

mage1: alchemy, Tailoring (gets the herbs from the pally)

mage2: Jewelcrafting, Tailoring (gets the mining stuff from the pally)

mage3: Tailoring (will get inscripting with the new addon)

every clothie got tailoring because I think Blizzard will continue to add good craftable items.

currently mage3 got herbalism so I don't need to switch the minimap-tracker from herbalism to mining to see the stuff on the map

Ooops sorry about the double post above.

Yeah! That new change in 2.3 is going to be really nice it seems to let you know when a quest item is available to loot on an alt toon ... and if I'm understanding correctly to let you see high end items that can be looted by other characters in the group but not necessarily by your main. So hopefully we won't miss getting those BOP recipe items that only show if you have the proper profession.
What they are saying: "Why are those guys following you? Why do they wear the same stuff? Did you pay for all of those accounts? Boxing is so unfair. Ebay? Lozer. Get a life. WTF? Retard. Gay." What they are thinking: "Damn, wish I could do that. That's so cool. This guy rocks! Lucky bastard. Maybe I can get mom to buy me more accounts."

I'm looking to have my pve group setup almost the same as beyond-tec, I just didn't take herbalism, and got blacksmithing instead on the tank. I might switch to engineering though.

I think they need to add more of an overlap on mining, or add more mining nodes. There are stretches that are really tedious because you can't find enough mineral veins, whereas herbalism is easy because there are more types of herbs and lots more of them to pick. So you have more overlap and more opportunities.

I grabbed pretty much every tradeskill available with my 5-shaman team. No idea if I will level up engineering or not, since blacksmithing and jewelcrafting already gobble up the ores/stones/gems that I mine.

    That's why it's harder.

There's also the need to mine a node 2-4 times instead of the one time for herbalism. You typically get more for mining though, 2-4 core instead of 1-3, and also you get the stones and rare gems, which, at least in azeroth, is rare for herbalism. In outlands you get motes from mining. Not sure if herbalism gets anything.

Nope, primal mights are used in only a few epic patterns.

Primal Mooncloth = Primal Water + Primal Life
Shadowcloth = Primal Fire + Primal Shadow
Spellcloth = Primal Fire + Primal Mana

^--- looks good to me. You could drop skinning for blacksmithing to craft gear for your Pally if you don't want to take the time to sell the leather you get from skinning.

Depending on which BS spec you take, you can make yourself a nice BoP epic weapon or armor. You could also go with Engineering for bombs and a very nice BoP epic hat.

I'm starting a 3 shaman team and deciding what proffesions to give them. My ideas so far:

    1)Skinning/LW
    2)Enchanting/?
    3)Herbalism/Alchemy

The one with leatherworking can make gear for the others and the enchanter will be awesome for DE's. I thought herb/alch might be good for making potions and I've heard they're pretty easy to level, and at 70 I can make my own elixirs/flasks for my hunter . I'd rather not do mining on #2, I've eleveled it before and hate it. Plus, 3 gatherers would be really annoying. I guess I could always leave that spot open too.

    Thoughts/Suggestions?
