I find it ironic -- we mock people who call us "no lifers" and "basement dwellers" and "losers", but we're so quick to mock someone else just because of the hobby they enjoy? Speed leveling is just as much a unique gameplay style as is Multiboxing.
I have no problem with speed levelers. Play how you want. Be the first to 80? huzzah, partay, grats, but you definitely don't deserve a title for it, the same way we don't deserve titles for the most lvl 70's on a server.
And you know who does deserves a title?

3000 quests? exalted with home factions?

Your post comes off more then a bit conceited.
The simple fact is that both sides of this issue are going to have to realize that this is a subjective discussion and that neither side is "right". There is no clearly defined, quantifiable set of criteria that says x accomplishment is title worthy. Personally, I see Blizzard doing what almost all big companies do, and that's modify their product and services to prevent potential litigation.

Suvega--you're disappointed, and you have a right to be. You don't have the right to make other people feel bad for their opinions just because they don't align with your own. Their view, just like yours, is equally valid. Agree to disagree and move on.

I think we all can do a better job of recognizing that we all have different opinions and can disagree respectfully without demonizing one another. It's not gotten to that point yet, but my magic 8-ball says it's coming.

Having worked in a casino and seen people play until they passed out, I can say that this was a good decision. Free tip, when you go to a casino, check the seat before you sit down. Some folks don't stop playing their slots to do silly stuff like use a restroom.

Removing those titles was the responsible thing to do. Imagine how many diabetics, hypoglycemics and terribly skinny people would have passed out or worse. Imagine how many people would have called in sick to work too many times and lost their jobs... (I'm out of sick days, so I called in dead). Also, it would just be depressing for folks who can't get time off work for it. Level at a decent pace, enjoy the content. It's not every day we get 10 more levels of quests, mobs, crafting and excitement.
You know it's sad that people actually get that into something such as gambling or whatnot that they would actually crap their pants before they stop playing a game, or in some cases actually die playing video games or w/e. But in all honesty I just can't imagine how bad it would be for those same types of people should we ever get actual virtual reality computer games. Without something actually ejecting them out of the game from time to time I could see people totally dying in a complete virtual world losing all sense of reality, wouldn't even be suprised if they eventually became insane after subjecting themselves to so many hours of it convincing themselves that their virtual world was the real world.

Anyways going back onto topic, If they want to add in something like titles that would be a cool little addition in my book but I would rather see titles that everyone could potenially earn rather than simply the person with the most time on their hands. Let's face it all of us who have been playing the game since well before TBC have seen mediocore pvp players "earn" the rank 14 titles just due to the fact that they had 14 hours a day to spend playing a game. The truly best pvp players didn't always have the time to grind out that many battlegrounds.

Heh, this thread reminds me of the WoW South Park episode!

My $0.02 on this - I think Blizz is doing the right thing by removing the titles. It's one thing to allow speed levelling - it's another thing altogether to actually encourage it by placing an incentive for people to be the first to hit level 80. The hardcore speed levellers are going to do it anyway - no argument there. Its the casual gamers who will get sucked into it (mostly to the detriment of thier lives outside WoW) that are the ones at risk here...

i'd love to see achievements like "past 100days played" or "killed 1 milion mobs", or "spent 20days afk in game" or even "character's 1/2/3/4/5 year anniversary", "Hearthed 1000 times", "bought 1milion food/drinks" - obviously all those should be cumulated since wow started, not just wotlk
stupid things really, that don't mean much, but that accumulate.
or some achievements like "did 15K dmg in 2 seconds or less" "Healed 20k in 2 seconds or less" "Dodged/parried/blocked 15 attacks in a row, for a mob wielding experience", "critted 10 times in a row"
The list is pretty much infinite, and they can add new achievements in every patch now.
