Default Nine Inch Nails in concert Salt Lake City, Utah

k, i just had to say something about this awesome show i just went to. i am not a concert goer at all, i've only been to 3 now, 1 of which i dont even like to admit except for the fact that the opening band rocked....i've been to U2 Popmart (Rage against the machine opened for them....awesome!) and Dave matthews band (under the table and dreaming tour, way way back) and now i can add NIN to my list. and of course its at the top. towering far above the other 2. like, thousands of feet above them.

    AWESOME!!!!!!

i tell you other nerds/geeks out there, if you really really like a band, but aren't the party/club/concert type like me, do it. you'll be glad u did, i promise. NIN is my favorite band (trent's a god among men!...ha ok maybe thats a bit much but he is a brilliant musician and song writer/artist)

he said some things about 3/4 the way through the show that really solidified my opinion of him. its not about the #1 chart toppers, its not about selling millions of albums, its about the fans. he proved that by giving away his last album (The Slip) for free on his website. At first i thought the album was just so-so compared to his other awesome albums he's released over the last 20 some odd years, but hearing some of the songs live, and then more on the way home blasting on my ipod+car stereo i really really like a lot of the songs on that album which i got for free as a thank you from Trent....which i think is awesome of any musician to do such a thing. http://theslip.nin.com/ go get it for free and enjoy the goodness.

The show was also awesome for another reason, i was fully expecting them to just play stuff off The Slip, With Teeth, and Year Zero (and i figured maybe a few songs from Ghosts but hoped they wouldnt' as most of them aren't really songs i pictured listening to at a concert) and when the show started, it was instantly not what i was expecting, and better yet it was completely what i WAS hoping for. they played roughly 20-25 songs, only 3-4 from the slip, and only 2-3 from Ghosts (wasn't as bad as i thought it would be) the rest were a wide range of hits dating back to Pretty Hate Machine album. Head like a hole, March of the Pigs, Hurt, all the classics. and of course some more recent hits and songs that made NIN so great, The Wretched, Piggy, Closer, and so many more i couldn't even remember them all when i sat down about 2 hours after the show to try and name all of the ones i'd heard (i own every NIN album that i've ever seen anywhere, Collectors editions, singles, etc. so i went through all of them looking for all the songs i'd just heard to put them on paper for memory reasons)

Anyway, if you are a fan of Trent and or NIN, and they're coming anywhere near you on this Lights in the Sky tour, i strongly recommend checking them out. it was a night i'll not soon forget.

My first NIN concert goes back to '92, and unfortunately the last time I was able to see Trent & Co was in Lakeland in May of '00. I'm really hoping he swings by central Florida soon - I've loved every album that's got NIN attached to it.

well shoot if you're just naming good NIN songs, i'd have to put up all of his songs, except maybe 3 or 4 that i dont think are totally awesome. most of them rock though, so i couldn't narrow it down to a small list of my favorites.

although i do have a favorite album, The Fragile > all albums known to man. best album put out by any band, in any genre, in any era. hands down the best.

every song on the double disc album is amazing.
