g'morning all.

to avoid the mess of last week, i've decided to put out a beta and get some field testing before replacing the current stable.

o bug fix: missing extension when saving in keymap editor

o improvement: jerkiness upon startup
o maximizer: will now auto-adjust game resolution (wow specific.. thanks Bollwerk)
o setup: new language panel for choosing your language settings
o setup: enabled 'exact name match' by default
o added overlay panel w/ audio reminder
o added sound event panel
o added override graphic overlay reminder

i'm particularly happy with the maximizer update, now keeping the game aspect ratio correct. thanks Bollwerk

the graphic overlay is a bit annoying in game as it constantly 'blinks' as the wow client forces a refresh. it's not enabled by default, check the setup/override setting for more. once i resolve the blink, i'll enable it by default.

also, if anyone has any default sounds that they think would be better, let me know... these are just the ones i had available. short sounds are pretty much required... and i personally like sounds that are soft and not overly disturbing

Everything is running smooth, just to let you know, though I cna click on languages and there is no options to select, as in I can't choose another language, not sure if it was fully implemented or not. Also a Suggestion, the button next to the the command input box on the main screen is labled "connect" I was wondering if it was better to label it "Launch" as most people who use this program, use it to multibox on one pc, and aren't REALLY connecting to anything (I know this is purely a symantics thing, but just something I was thinking about)

I would guess that more than you expect use it to connect to other PC's... I have recently been running 2 on my laptop, 1 on my desktop.

i've thought about changing the label... 'connect' is legacy pre-commands.

i'm also having thoughts on renaming 'override'... seems it's not intuitive to people

as for languages... yes, it is currently not deployed so the panel is empty. more of a place holder currently

I think connect fits the use just fine. I run this program on three systems since you cant multi Vanguard on one system. I have used it with WoW and had three clients on one system, but I still think that connect is the proper way to label something that "connects" all of your applications, no matter how many systems that you have running.

As for override, not sure how that isn't intuitive, but to each his own I guess.

Haven't tried out the beta yet, but I am hoping that the overlay indicates whenever you are in override mode, as I sometimes forget to toggle that back off, and end up in a world of hurt

override was intuitive for me... but others seem to have issues. i'm always open to better suggestions

as for the beta, the override can now give you 2 different types of indicators. one is visual and shown on the lower right of your clones (like MUTE on a TV screen), and the other is a audio reminder which is also configurable. you also get an audio cue whenever you toggle override

only problem with the visual overlay is that it blinks like crazy. it is not enabled by default... you just have to enable it via the setup/override panel.

post your thoughts here... if i get no comments, i'll think about promoting it to stable around the weekend.

And Keyclone, yeah I havent' had ANY issues all day, Good and stable on my pc.

grim, what do you think of the audio cues for override? like? doesn't matter? disable immediately??

I liked the sounds. As long as it's kept subtle, I'm all for it.

Connect could perhaps be Execute or launch or something like that. When you know what the button does, the name doesn't matter much.

While here I want to ask the keyclone users if anyone with Vista can get maximizer to work?

I froze up when trying to override. Had to restart my computer each of the 2 times I tried it. Switched back to the stable version and I'm good.

On a side note... has anyone ever had a problem with 1 character running off when you hit your "character spread" key? I have this one character than gets stuck in like an auto run (his auto run his unbinded) and I have to hit the follow key quickly before he aggros the whole instance.
