Is it possible to have the latest trend - focus-based targeting - along with classic fallback assist?
Something like comes to mind:
Code:/cast [target=focus, harm, nodead, exists] [target=targettarget, harm, nodead] [] Lightning Bolt

Hi,
as far as I know it is possible.
To give a concrete macro for it, it is neccessary to know, what for you using you're focus and your target.
For example, your macro would use "focus" for the dps-target and "target" for the "leader", so if this is the case your macro should work.
I personaly prefer a modified "ftl-Aproach" (focusless,targetless,leaderless) from Pocalyps & Co. but this is pure personal choice.
One problem with the macro you described is, that i don't se a way, how you can set a sheep-target for your mages, cause focus is used for the dps-target and target for teh leader...
but it could also be, that i'm not clearly understand what you mean by the latest trend of "focus-based-targeting"...

Huh? Focus is the latest trend? I've been using it now for 8 months.....[img]../forum/images/smilies/confused.png[/img]
Edit: Shouldn't try to work and forum post.... Ok, I'm confused why a normal focus macro and /assist focus won't work for you? Maybe I'm missing something since I don't have any ranged CC'd or something that could use it. I'm not sure if you could use [nodead] with assist or not. I just hit another key and my focus switches down a list to my next favorite toon while I grab control of them.

How have you modified your FTL setup? I just implemented this method over the weeknd and the only chance I had to try it out was in 3v3. I lost, many many games, but I don't blame it all on the FTL setup.I personaly prefer a modified "ftl-Aproach" (focusless,targetless,leaderless) from Pocalyps & Co. but this is pure personal choice.
My big problems with that is the 'leaderless' part when it comes to controling the toons. Specifically, how do you configure spread out macros and non-active-toon turning and movement?
My 2nd major problem was with using a modifier key with a keybinding to do a main ability. I was already in the habit of having lightning bolt on the (W) key and Chain lightning on (Shift-W), so when i went with that setup and changed leaders the (Shift-W) didn't send to the other wow instances properly. The fix that Deceased suggested (toggling - Pass hotstrings only) caused a major headache because now I can't send anything to the other windows without making a hotstring. I couldn't figure out how to make a formation with the hotstrings.
Overall I was blown away by the ingenuity of the whole system, and the seamless transition from toon to toon, but dealing with formations and non-active-toon movement was a problem I couldn't solve unless I reverted back to the old setup where i had a main with different keybindings than the alts.
I'm still up in the air on the FTL system, and I hope to see more discussion and comments about it here on the PVP front.

@ftl :
I must admitt although this is the pvp-forum i don't realy PVP(actual i have a lvl65 pve group (pala,mage,warlock,priest,shaman))
So I must admit, there are no experinces with this setup for PVP.
The "modification" i made to the system was to don't use the '"targetless" option to save setuptime and to be able to use modifiers in my dps-makros.
I discribed it at: Focusless, targetless, 'leaderless' setup.
To specify a spreadout or turning you could perhaps also use the hotstrings/keymaps as you do within the ftl setup.
Little example for only 3 toons to get the idea:
You wanna do a line-formation bound to Key "f", move left is bound on every Toon at "h", move right at "g" :
h,g are randomly choosen, idealy you should use bindings for this, you actualy never hit on the keyboard)
Keybinding for ToonA:
f --> TOONA
h --> TOONB
g --> TOONC
Keybinding for ToonB:
h --> TOONA
f --> TOONB
shift+h --> TOONC
Keybinding for ToonC:
g --> TOONA
shift+g --> TOONB
f --> TOONC
This should result in:
TOONA leader & pressing "f" => TOONB moves left, TOONC moves right
TOONB leader & pressing "f" => TOONA moves left, TOONC moves right
TOONC leader & pressing "f" => TOONB moves left, TOONA moves right
remember: this is all from scratch, i never actualy used it, but i think in the basic prinzipal it should work...
Edit:
small correction: to get the behavior i wantet, changed on ToonB: g --> ToonC to shift+h --> ToonC, and on ToonC: h --> ToonB to shift+g -->ToonB
have tryed it and works like a charm
(although i'm not using g,h but LEFT-Arrow and Right-Arrow)

The idea is to use focus for your dps targets, and use your actual target to mislead enemy healers in their anticipation of who is next in line for the nuke.Originally Posted by 'Sarduci',index.php?page=Thread&postID=115219#post 115219

Ah, that makes some sence...
then i would change the macro to:
cause when you target a enemy player as the "confusion-target" by using target=targettarget you would try to cast LB on his target, which (if he isn't a healer) is one of your toonsCode:/cast [target=focus, harm, nodead, exists] [harm, nodead]Lightning Bolt
(also a simple [] could also work, as it trys to cast on the current taregt and when its friendly or dead LB would automaticaly fail)

I would not advise putting a "nodead" modifier in your fallback. Otherwise, you won't be able to attack a feigned hunter.
Genius!I would not advise putting a "nodead" modifier in your fallback. Otherwise, you won't be able to attack a feigned hunter.
I've exclusively used macros to fire my spells ever since I've started multi-boxing and I always found it frustrating when I couldn't attack a Feign Deathed hunter when I knew he wasn't really dead. Thank you so much for shinning the light on something that's been frustrating at times for me!
Olipcs,
I'll have to delve into that when I get the chance to sit down and punch the hotstrings in Keyclone. Thanks for the writeup.
