    Default Hello From Another Newbie

    Hey Everyone,

I just thought I'd say a quick hello to everyone, I really have no idea why, but something inside of me thought it would be best to register and introduce myself. Been as though I always reading this forum it kinda just made sense too.

I've been duel boxing for quite a while, started out as 2 clients on one pc using Alt+Tab, and yes controlling them separately (I wasn't aware of all this fancy key stuff back then).

Recently I just got another account after reading a lot of stuff on this forum and gained access to Key clone after registering twice.

Its a great program, and I've learnt alot by just playing around and reading the forums.

However, I do seem to have one little problem that I just cant figure out and if I thinking its what it is, then i presume it cant be fixed. I've never been to great at writing detailed descriptive posts, so I'll try.

Having two warlocks on follow with the main warlock, I use a focus macro on all three characters to shoot spells at the focus' target. What I'm having problems with though is that the slaves (the two on follow) will report invalid target after selecting the hostile mob with the main, but if ya wait about 4 seconds before pressing the spell hot keys it works fine.

Is this just a latency problem, or is it something that my macro's are messing up?

    EG.

PC 1 - Main PC - Warlock Leader
PC 2 - Slave - Warlock on follow! -------- ALL Set Focus on PC1 Warlock
PC 3 - Slave - Warlock on follow!

Left Click Hostile Mob With Mouse On PC 1.

Press Button 1 (Hot key For Shadow Bolt)

/cast [target=focustarget] Shadow Bolt (is the macro that runs on all pc's)

PC 1 Shoots, however PC 2 + 3 just report invalid target because they didn't register the target change, but after waiting a few seconds, pressing button 1 again will make them all shoot.

I just really wanted to know if its something I have got wrong, or if this is a common thing to all people that multi box. On the other hand, it maybe is happening cause I don't know anything about all of this stuff and just started out on the learning cycle.

Anyway, sorry to rant on... but back to the original subject.. HELLO - nice to actually have something interesting to read since I found this forum a while back.

Best wishes to everyone, time for me to zzzZZZZZ now. /wave

I use a slighty different macro (I don't know much about them) to target my main's target. Then after I do that, I cast my bolt. And my clone will sometimes do the same thing. I think it's just a latency thing, or sometimes for some reason my clone won't target my main's target, so I just have to hit the macro button again.

hi smallo and welcome to the group!

here's something you may find useful in keyclone: mouse-mapping

first: associate a key with a simple /assist macro

    second: keyclone / setup / mouse-map

left click the 'mouse action' area... LBUTTON will appear
left click in the key area and hit your /assist key

click '+' to add it to the list

    click 'ok'

now, whenever you left click on something, the click will translate into the /assist key... and the clones will get the target. depending on latency, you may have to click a second time.

you can use right, left, middle buttons as well as alt, ctrl, shift ... loads of mouse oriented actions to trigger a key... keeping your hand on the mouse and saving you the time of transitioning.

    Hiya and Welcome Smallo.

Try dropping the "[target=focustarget]" from your main toons macro. With focus target, the reason you may be getting this error is because your main is setting himself as the target's focus, thus causing your alts to target your main as the "focuses target"....sort of. (If that makes sense. )

    Hope this helps.

Edit: Now, that my brain has registered what you wrote... :s ..With [target=focustarget] on all 3 macros, your alts aren't automatically assisting your main because your setting your main as the focus with your alts and then trying to cast a harmful spell on him. Set up some sort of assist command for your alts to target what your main has targeted.

no no, they all target the focus' target!

so i can leave them targeting other mobs, to use succubus or such. while casting a spell directly onto the focus' target - which is usually the main pc's selected target.

the reason i have all pc's assist a focus target is when i die on one of them, i can just switch to another pc and hit macro for everything to assist the pc I changed too. and boom, nothing is different.

its just that transition between the left clicking, to the pressing of the action button. i have to wait for a decent time before slave pc's realise that the focus' target has changed to something or from one to another different mob.

a good example would be if i send me voidwalkers into a large pack of mobs, and i alt + tab through them dotting them up, the main pc will have dotted all of them correctly, but if i go too fast the the slaves double dot the same mob sometimes and skip some others. But as some are starting to say, its the warcraft spell server latency it seems, so it is mandatory for me to wait. I guess its just something I'll get used to over time, in the past i only ever levelled a warrior + priest. so didnt really do much changing targets all the time.

i think someone discussed in the past the focus target options. i just like it cause it doesn't deselect the target you have selected. so they always follow the focus but will always select the mob you do manually, not change as it goes.

I usually end up with about a second of latency before I can /assist my main in the outside world. Inside instances, I end up with 2-4 seconds of latency lately.

As an aside, if you want to prevent the "Invalid target" errors and such, just add the following line right after your /assist focus line:

    /stopmacro [noharm]

Tell them if they don't leave you alone, you'll report them for harassment.

Then actually report them if they continue threatening you.

    Works every time.
