    Default New Metallica song

I'm sure there must be a few other Metallica fans out there. I'm curious what you think of the new song! If you haven't heard it, you can download it off their official site I linked below. I think it's probably their best since the black album. Hopefully the rest of the album is as good and not another St. Anger. I'm looking forward to the tour this fall too; I haven't seen them since 2000, and they were great then. 8)

    Its bloody horrible.

I actually sat in my truck and stared at my radio while it was playing thinking "wow, is it really this bad?"

(And I'm an owner of all Metallica albums up to Reload)
I'm with Fur on this one. They haven't been able to pull off "technical" since Justice, which sucks because they had such potential. Ah well. Don't let my opinion dissuade or annoy you metallica fans. I'm also one of those that prefers just about anything Megadeth to anything Metallica since Justice. Dave may be a pretentious bastard but at least he can write music, IMO. :P

idk i kind of hate the people who say they are fans until the black album or when they cut their hair. wtf they still make awsome music on all their albums except St. anger. this first song off the new CD is one of the softer toned down songs a bit just like every other bad does on at least one song on their CDs. I heard Cyonide today from one of their conserts in TX and its Loud and Fast in a new/justice/ride the lightining way. Besides that music is Art and the artists that make it are aloud to changte it the way they see and if you get over the petty crap that doesn't effect how kick ass they are. then just stfu your opinon is just that "your" opinion. maybe i shouldn't get all upset, because everybody has a opinion and like but holes everybody has them and most times they stink inclueding mine :P

Well, I didn't even finish the song, after 3-4 mins they started to speed it up and play solos and stuff, and it was not that good imo. So I hope that the rest of the album will be better.

    (Favourite album: S&M)

I think this song is awesome, it sort of reminds of some Iron Maiden songs for some reason, and seeing has how IM is my favourite band, I guess I just naturally like this song lol (if that even makes sense hah)

    Neways,
    This song rocks IMO.

Stopped listening to them after they acted like cry babies with the napster stuff back in the 90s. This link sums it up nicely.

that and being played on the radio every 5mins takes it toll. Loved the older stuff growing up tho.

Due to Blizzards position on Hong Kong, money > freedom. I stopped playing.

You f'n said it! I was a hardcore Metallica fan, but was slowly let down through Load/Reload/Garage Re-Released.. S&M was, however, one nice bit for a live album.. then they derailed their career with what is most likely the biggest flop in rock history.. St. Anger. Don't get me wrong, I liked Load/Reload/Garage enough to listen to frequently, but I didn't think it was as good as previous albums. Meanwhile, I had discovered Megadeth around '91 and the sound grew and grew on me. Although a "risk" in releasing Risk, it wasn't god-awful like St. Anger, and they knew it was a risk by making it, unlike Metallica's take on St. Anger as being a return to their metal roots. Metal roots? It sounds like a group of 10 year olds banging on shit in the garage and screaming the same retarded chorus over and over. No guitar solos? "People don't want to hear solos" - what a quote from one of the premier bands known for great guitars. People complained of Megadeth's Risk sounding too pop-ish, but compared to Reload, it's definitely more rock. Megadeth's new albums continue to kick ass without any disappointment - The World Needs a Hero, The System Has Failed, United Abominations.. while this Metallica track, supposedly their "comeback," didn't get respectable until 5 minutes into the song. Until then, it sounded like something very un-metal from Reload. I'll keep my mind open for more tracks, but this one definitely isn't worthy of purchasing an album yet.

Sorry, but Dave took so much of the songwriting ability in the form of guitar solos and riffs with him when he was booted from Metallica.. the best thing to ever happen to him. I'll take Megadeth's 3 best albums over any 3 of Metallica's albums that don't have Dave's riffs and influence (aka everything AFTER Master of Puppets). If you look at the credits, Metallica had to put Dave's name down for the songs he's *known* to have played live because he wrote much of the guitar - Call of Cthulu, Ride the Lightning, etc. However, there are many riffs from Master of Puppets that Dave was fooling with but the group hadn't written a song yet - the riff for Leper Messiah being one that Dave Ellefson heard Mustaine play long before Metallica released Puppets. For those Metallica fans who haven't given Megadeth a chance because of the Metallica-vs-Mustaine fued, put that to rest and try out any of these tracks: Wake Up Dead, Peace Sells, Into the Lungs of Hell, In My Darkest Hour, Holy Wars.. The Punishment Due, Hangar 18, Lucretia, Tornado of Souls, Symphony of Destruction, Sweating Bullets, Countdown to Extinction, Addicted to Chaos, Train of Consequences, A Tout Le Monde, Angry Again, Trust, Prince of Darkness, Disconnect, Dread and the Fugitive Mind, The World Needs a Hero, 1000 Times Goodbye, The Scorpion, Something That I'm Not, Of Mice And Men, Gears of War.

I'm glad I put the rivalry aside and opened my mind - now I can enjoy music by two great bands.. the earlier Metallica stuff, and everything by Megadeth after the first (most tracks too raw for me, but I love Looking Down the Cross) album.

    Edit:
Ugh, you're right about the technical aspect of Justice. "One" is the only track on that album they still play live - the rest of it being too difficult to ever really play much, which sucks because it's basically a "made for studio" album then.

    Currently playing:
    Akama [Empire of Orlando]
    Zandantilus - 85 Shaman, Teebow - 85 Paladin, Kodex - 85 Rogue.

Definitely going to 4-box Diablo 3 after testing the beta for how well this would work.

I've heard/seen them play more than just One from Justice live, and more than once... For me cutting their hair had nothing to do with Load/Reload being sub-par, I just didn't like most of the tracks on those albums, Bob Rock had too much of a hand in Metallica (the black album I mean) and by Load/Reload his influence was far too obvious. St Anger just sucked, I don't think many people would disagree.

I've only heard the new song once, on the radio, I'll be grabbing the new album to give it a chance after a few listens where I can actualy hear it properly. I'll also hopefuly be going to see them mid-sept in London.

As for Megadeth... I like the music, and Mustain plays/composes well, but I just don't like the sound of his voice/singing, maybe I should give them another listed sometime soon, as I haven't done so for some years.
