Thread: PiP window lag

  1. #1

    Default PiP window lag

SO i play 5 accoutns on 1 pc on one screen. i have my main screen running 5-45 fps and then 4 very small windows along the bottom running the other 4 accounts. The promble i am having is hitting f8-12 for the different accounts is the screen lags to load. IS there a way to reduce this lag ? lower setting? I have not pvped yet but i know soon as my main screen toon dies i wont be able to PiP fast enough to recover.

I am using almost the same set-up (I described it in this thread). In my case, the switch is very quick, I would say faster than an alt-tab between two full screen clients.

My small windows are limited to 5 frame per second maximum when not focused.

I use Octopus. Do you use Octopus or Keyclone ?
Can you give more details about your system ?

the performance of the pip swap is crushed by re-rendering the surfaces it needs to draw the scenes.

this is why you must make sure all the windows have the same aspect ratio.

of course, the level of details you have in the scene that needs to be re-rendered impacts the amount of work the card has to do
    (check: http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/inde...Graphic_Detail )

the next biggest impact would be the graphics card.

after that... maybe system memory and bus speed on the main board
