A plea to all newcomers

I just want to say I'm also a new 'boxer - running a 2 toon rogue/druid combo. I'd been running 2 instances on one machine using KeyClone to broadcast, and it was decent, but my machine didn't really like the extra overhead of 2 wow instances running. (I prefer to play @ 60+fps instead of 25-30, ) - anyway, if any other new 'boxers out there are using more than one comp and need some setup help, I *highly* recommend Octopus and reading Ughmahedhurtz' tutorial on it -- it's amazing, and after a couple hours of frustration with keyClone/Synergy combos, I was up and running with Octopus.

Freaking amazing how well it works!!

This community has been a lot of help/information over the last few days -- thanks to everyone (especially Ugh).

Well i had my first problem...and it has taken me a day to find the answer.....read many post....typed in lots of combinations...and finally got what i was looking for....cheers so much for all the info. I had a problem with the username not coming up...and yes you guessed it.....i was clicking the wrong launcher.....DOH!.

I run 4 mage's on Nagrand...and have been banned 3 times for getting too involved in arguements with the unknown...the idiots...and the name callers. So I learnt my lesson...as my mum used to say...."If your going to play with the other children...be nice"......lol

...for what it's worth, the only people this sort of post seems to address with any meaningful weight are people like me, who took the time to follow Google link after Google link, sift through a multitude of tutorials only to find that either they do not address the most basic of definitions for the noobiest of noobs(is KM the same thing as KVM? Do I really want to broadcast on my main window as well as my alts when I'm using a toggle to broadcast? Do I want to broadcast or maximize; is the independent mouse action faster than the key broadcasting?) or they are software-specific (a Keyclone tutorial has minimal bearing on an Octopus setup).

There's a wealth of great information on this site, and it's really the only site I've relied upon when learning how to dual box (I just recently became a 'boxer), but I shudder to do the research to find out if I can easily maneuver between Octopus profiles for 2 PCs and 1 PC, which I will need to do prior to tomorrow at midnight because my second PC does not have a DVD player and I know how long it'll take to install my game's expansion via a networked DVD. But the info will not be in one easily found place--say, a post entitled "Swapping 2-PC/1-PC Configs in Octopus via Profiles" as an example--and I will have to sort much chaff to find the grains of gold.

In summation, as much as you all feel abused, your answers and patience are appreciated. Now, is there any way of showing some love for the unsung noob lurkers who try our hardest not to add to the weight on your weary shoulders? :huh:

quick 2 cents from me - brand new to the world of boxing, keyclone instructions were dead easy, have started to experiment on macros and there's a huge amount of information which I will be trying out once my wife give me 5 mins...

oh and Katannah I know your post is ages old, but for anyone else with this problem and who doesn't know it, you can just copy and paste the wow folder to another location without having to reinstall it - might save you a day or 7

The "Guides" link is to a Wiki page about Vyndree's Guide to Guides. The Wiki links are to sub-sections in Vyndree's guide which I suppose got broken over time and I suppose the Wiki should be updated. You still get access to all those links by just going to the "Vyndree's Guide to Guides" link on the Wiki page and scrolling down.

They've been working on converting the Wiki, so old post links are probably broken in a lot of places. Like thinus says, going directly to the Wiki will get you to the right places while things are in limbo.
