Default Theorycrafting: The best pve 5box group

With the RAF program anything is possible, and I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best pve group for doing heroics would be. I see there are a lot of 5-shammy groups, but what are the other really good pve combinations? Right now I'm playing with a 4mage 1pally group thats a lot of fun, but i can see it's limitations. What 5 man group would be the easiest to work with and the best to do heroics with?

    Hi,

hm my first impression would be:

    1xProt-Paladin
    1xHeal-Priest
    3xMages

could be a quite good and simple to play PVE-Team,
but when you think about utility you might want to add a Lock for Soulstone/HP-Buff/Enslave
and I personaly wanted to add an shaman for totems/secondary healer/wipe recovery/another rezzer...

So you end up with a:

    Prot-Pala, Priest, Mage, Warlock, Shaman

I play this Setup (now lvl64) and till now its fun and playable.
I allways must smily when I look at my bufflist

-only thing I'm thinking about is, if the shaman or priest would be zhe better healer...

The Pala-4xShamans-Combo sounds intriguing and really worth it. In the moment I play a Pala-4xShadow-group and it's a great setup. I can rezz with everybody, I heal via my Vampiric Embrace the group and the Pala with a Shield-HoT-2xFlashHeal-Combo. It's probably not the best DPS-setup, but it's potencial in long Boss-Fights is great - thanks to the Vampiric Touch. Actually I fall a little bit in love with my Shadows.

My 5 Box Team contains 1 x Prot-Pala, 1 x Holy Priest, 1 x Fire Mage, 1 x Warlock, 1 x Elemental Schamane. I prefere more to have the best value from PvE

Prot Pala is one of the best Tanks (up to BT, but this one i don't want to do with 5 boxing ), easy mass tanking, great aggro. A Druid would be fine to, but concentration is more easy for mass mobs than tanking with a druid

Holy Priest later with CoH - perfect for Group Healing

Fire Mage (with some points on Ice) for max. DPS, but will have less DPS than the Warlock (don't know if i will skill him as destruction or affliction/demology for +health boost to the group). Elemental Schamane for Totems and Group Buff Can do some Group Heal if something is going wrong ^^ I think the group benefits more from the Elemental Schamane than a Shadow Priest and Healing with the Schamane (and the Schamane will Out-DPS the Shadow Priest ). And you have three AE Classes with this Setup. I don't like 4 x Schamanes (less DPS than Warlock, no Group Buff as Mage, less AE) and i don't like 3 x Mage (less DPS than Schamane and Warlock, but maybe great AE Value, but i see that the Warlock has great AE DPS too ).

I'm boxing up my first team right now. It's in my sig. i'm a glutton for punishment going with 5 classes for my first team, but in the end i'm really glad i did. I LOVE this set up. I'm torn between starting more teams to take advantage or the RAF, and just doing what i want to do and keep getting this squad leveled. I'm damn near 54, so i'm going to have to make the choice soon.

The real clencher for the pally 4xshammy for me has been fear immunity (or essentially so). Fear really jacks up a boxer and by staggering 4x tremors it's never an issue. The 4x Grounding totems are also insanely powerful. From a DPS perspective, I've gone neck and neck with a mage that had 250 more +dmg than my shaman (maybe the mage sucked iono), and at a measly 700+ dmg I basically 2 shot mobs in heroic mech (easy I know). The pally and resto shammy really make CC unneccesary (it's a PITA anyhow).

In theory the 4x shadow priest + pally would be invincible with hots, vamp, etc.

IMO mixed class teams don't bring enough benefit to the table in order to compensate for the added complexity.

Didn't I read somewhere that Shammy Totems aren't going to stack in the xpac. If so, the multi-shammy advantage may come to an end. as far as tremor and grounding totems go anyway.

For ideal group utility maybe something like:

    Prot Pally
    Resto Shammie
    Boomkin
    Mage
    Warlock

Prot Pally brings so much to the table. AoE threat, group buffs and can rez or heal in a pinch and DI for wipe recovery.
Resto Shammie brings excellent utility with totems, good multi-target heals, good main heals, can rez and self-rez for wipe recovery.
Boomkin brings crit-buffing aura, group buff, a battle rez, is a viable off-tank or off-healer, and has some CC.
Mage brings food and drink, good buff, excellent CC, excellent (multi-school) DPS.
Warlock brings healthstone, excellent mob debuff, excellent DPS and soulstone for wipe recovery plus some CC.

I like the group as you have limited overlap for gear as well. The drood can always pick up DPS leather and the shammie can get an enhancement set if they want to. You only have the mage and lock as DPS clothies. But you still have what is basically a 5 caster group so mechanics are simplified for your gameplay. I suppose you could take a Hunter over the Warlock or Mage but I think that adds a lot of complexity for limited additional utility.

One of the other things that I like about this group is you have the flexibility to respec the Boomkin to Treekin and go Ele with the Shammie. Or you can go Ele with the Shammie, Feral Tank the Drood, and Holy the Pally. Or I suppose go Ret with the Pally and stay Resto Shammie with a Feral Tank (maybe Blizz with buff Retadins? who knows?). Anyway, you get a lot of flexibility in case of rampant nerfing or buffing.

The group I'm leveling has this makeup with the exception of having two mages instead of the mage and warlock. I hate gathering the soul stones and all.

But this in not an easy route to go, certainly. I doubt that I'll be doing all of the heroics, etc., but it should be a nice stable of toons to pull from for raiding and the only limitation on the group is how well they are run.

On the flip side I would say that the 4x Shammie, 1 Prot Pally would be the easiest to run and probably the most efficient. Maybe 3x Shammie, 1 Boomkin, 1 Prot Pally instead. But either way you're good. It really depends on what you're looking to get out of multiboxing.
Rudi's Angels of Baelgun: Josii (Prot Pally), Suzii (Resto Shammie), Tracii (Ele Shammie), Lorii (Boomkin) and Trudii (Frost Mage).
