    Default When 5 boxing with a traditional tank...

    Who is your "main" screen? If its the tank, then how do you go about healing the whole group... or individuals?

    Also, do most people use /assist focus when targeting mobs so that you can easily switch between "main" characters if one dies? If so, how the hell do you do CC spells like sheep? You couldn't have a sheep target as a focus then use /assist focus to target a mob to dps.

    Just trying to iron out my macro setup before my little guys get to Deadmines. As for another question, think I can run through deadmines at lvl 17 or 18 with 1priest, 2mages, 2locks? Could 2 VW's tank the instance? Looking for someone with experience in that.

    I highly suggest you get something like the X-Keys. What I have is 5 sepereate buttons for the same heal, & 1 corrisponds to 1st party member, 2 to the 2nd, etc... I use "pitbull unit frames" & sort party by name.

    >> Also, do most people use /assist focus when targeting mobs...
    dont use /assist, use [tartet=focustarget] . This way, on the clone that needs to sheep a particular mob, you just set his normal target to that. He will still atack the other guy (the focus's target) but sheep his main target.
    There are people with more macro experiance that have laid this out in the macro forums better than I can.

    Hmm... I could just use my nostromo for healing (I dont find it that great when trying to 5 box, not enough buttons to be the main keyboard).

    As for the /assist... I really like using it because then it means I dont have to write a macro for EVERY single spell.

    I think you'll find that With 5boxing, Macros become massively usefull.
    Almost every key I hit is macro'ed in one way or another.

    As far as the nostromo, yeah, it will do basically the same thing, if you have it set up for your main. but if you do what I suggested, that's still a macro for every heal though.

    Thats true, there would be a macro for every heal. Ah well, I have taken the time to buy/setup all the hardware for a 5 boxing setup, I suppose that I shouldn't whine when it comes time to macro every single key

    Im a little diff since I dont use any progs to help me multi box. I have 5 comps 5 screens and 3 keyboards. If you have this set up hardware wise, you dont need any addons to work it or any multi box software. I use ctra, omen threat meters, swstats atm for addons.

    1 kb for the tank 1 kb for the priest and 1 for the 3 mages

    for sheeping i have :

    ctrl q ctrl a ctrl z for focus for mages 1 2 and 3

    so i assist for cc target 1 ctrl q, assist for target 2 ctrl a, assist for target 3 ctrl z

    then I have sheep tied to 1 key (in my case the 9 key) so I pull with tank then hit the 9 key all targets sheeped.. then pull rest of non cced mobs away from sheeped targets and assist burn them down..make sure to resheep thru out the fight (dont have to target just hit the 9 key everyonce in a bit between nukes)

    for healing I have the priest on my right hand keyboard and just have a couple of simple macroes..

    6 = /target <tank> /follow
    2= /assist
    3= big heal
    ctrl 2 = renew
    ctrl 3 = binding heal

    main reason I like a priest for boxing healing is for prayer of healing (large grp heals) so dont have to target the grp to heal non tanks usually-- or i can use the priests mouse to target certain grp memem other than the tank.

    Main reason I use a pally (tho I have used a warr tank for longer) is the lack of needing to tab target thru tank targets to get solid aggro on all non cced mobs (tho with the thunder clap changes a warr can keep most mobs off the prist if just regular healing)

    drawback to pally is you cast consecrate which is an ae dot..make sure to get your mobs cced and the rest of them moved away before casting this-- kinda of the same with warr and thunderclap.

    .. hope this answers your pm's heh
    (also have a /focus /shackle set up for cc if needed)

    Hmm not using software makes your answer not very helpful for me. Especially since you use multiple screens/keyboards.

    I figure that I'm going to have to use the pally as my "main" character for positional reasons, and I'll use my entire nostromo n52 as my healer (binding a big heal, flash heal, renew to each character with a seperate button).

    My CC'ing will have to be done with /focus, so I'm not sure how the CC'ers are going to regain their target... I guess target=party1raid or whatever that command was, will have to do.

    Hi!

    War, Priest, 2Mage, Lock Team with War as main char. The healing is done with my nostromus (I thought about getting this x key thingy but it really is too expensive). I can reach all ten buttons with the little finger of my right hand. The 10 buttons have the following functions:

    * 1st row: greater heal party member 1-5 (war is of course the most easily accessible button)
    * Group heal
    * Fade
    * Shadowfiend
    The last two (flash heal war and shield war) i rarely use and I might change them when something more useful comes up.

    Works pretty good for me.

    PS: About regaining your targets. You can use a resheep macro like
    /target focus
    /cast poly
    /targetlasttarget

    /targetlasttarget man! I forgot about that one. Brilliant.

    I'm definitely going to use my n52 as the healer. Good stuff. I'll be using a pally tank to level my group of 5 up, but I have a warrior tank at lvl 70 so I'll have 2 different tanks for different situations when they all hit 70.
