I wouldn't recommend anything other than 8gigs of fast DDR2/DDR3 RAM for 5 boxing on one machine. 4gigs will work if it's fast, but you'll still lag a bit in Shattrath with only 4gigs. This means you'll need vista64bit to be able to use all of the ram and a decent motherboard as well.

If you don't want to go that route, than just deal with it or set up a macro that completely minimizes your sound and video settings. For example, setting max/min frames per second for the main and the background in keyclone or the console manually, turning off all sounds on your clones, and reducing the video settings on all of your clones along with possibly your main.

Your video card is ok, not great, but it's not your problem at all. Your processor is perfectly fine. You didn't list your motherboard so I can judge it's performance. Your ram is not on par with what I'd use to box 5 efficiently. What resolution are you trying to play with in each window, and how many monitors are you using. More info?

I dont know about the motherboard (dell), just tell me its with inten chipset, thats all. Only using 1 22" monitor. Dont think my windows is 64bit, but i dont know (how to check?). The MB can take 8GB of RAM

I knew I should have bought the comp parts by parts (as usual), dont know why i was so stupid to buy one competed - lazy i guess

The MOBO can take 8gb but the OS cannot utilize it properly.

Maybe I worded that wrong, but that's the general idea.

WHAT? 8 gigs? Are you crazy? I am running 4 gigs on my rig and its fine. Never any lag after I tweaked the settings correctly.

If your issue is occuring outside of wow then its not wow. It sounds like a memory leak.

What Dell did you buy? Also are you using "msconfig"? If not you should be using it to dumb down all the programs that are running in the background while you play wow.

Did you buy ECC memory or normal memory? It's not a big thing but it helps. It's more for servers that need fast response times.

What is the temp of your computer right now? I suggest downloading speedfan and checking your temps.

You should have no problem doing what you want with your setup. Like I said it sounds like its something outside of wow. I would update all drivers and remove all programs when running wow.

I know for a FACT that Dell has a crap ton of stuff running on your computer that is specific to Dell which you really don't need to have running. Stupid little things like making your audio buttons on your keyboard function. You don't need that crap running while you game. Another example would be Dell Help. You don't need that running as well.

Run MSCONFIG from the run command and get rid of everything that starts up. Restart and see if it works. If something is not working right then just enable it in the startup and you should be golden.

RAM size & speed isn't the bottleneck in Shatt. Hard drive access times and transfer rate is. There are many people running 4GB very smoothly.

The problem of slowness building over time can be caused by add-ons that store data while you play.. recap/damagemeters/etc. Try resetting the data on those.

    Currently playing:
    Akama [Empire of Orlando]
    Zandantilus - 85 Shaman, Teebow - 85 Paladin, Kodex - 85 Rogue.

Definitely going to 4-box Diablo 3 after testing the beta for how well this would work.

Seems i fixed alot of the lag.

Went to msconfig and disabled all the Startup programs, this has solved ALOT of my problems (both normal and ingame).

    Thanks

Hmm, I just made a thread about my computer being able to handle 5 at once, since I wasn't too sure, and now I see this thread where you have similar specs (except for the graphics card). So if you can do, that gives me even more hope that I can as well after I upgrade the video card.

(I have a Dell too, shhh, don't tell anyone)

    hehe, ye

I'm trying to use 2 wow folders now (or will try on friday when starting on a new group). 1 for my "main" and another one for my 4 slaves - this will allow me to set the graphic even lower on my alts. One installation on each HD
