Questing zone preferences, RAF-style

So my highest crew is Horde 38 at the moment.

This is what I've done and my comments:
1-10 - starting lands
10-~22 - Ghostlands (so much better than barrens)
22-28 - Tarren Mill/Hillsbrad (tons of running back and forth, UGH. Slow. Alternatives for next round?)
28-30 - Thousand Needles ("Uh crap, where do I go now?" Pretty decent stacking for north, but not touching any of Shimm. Flats.)
30-32 - Northern STV (FAST. I probably should have flown to BB to pick up the quests there, but I exhausted my nothern quests save the collects.)
33-35ish - Desolace (Blegh.)
35->40 - Dustwallow (Tons of collect quests == boo.)

For people that have already run multiple crews up, would you mind offering your zone preferences/order please? <3

I plan on following Joana's guide... with a few instances here and there.

FYI; I like Barrens a lot more than Ghostlands ( quicker IMO ), and barely even visit Hillsbrad

Well, I've just finished getting my first 3 BE mages to 60 (1 was gifted from lvl 41) and the following is how I went about it:

1-12 Starting Lands
12-26 Northern and Southern Barrens (I haven't done Ghostlands enough to know my way around and efficiently quest there, while I can group the Barrans quests really efficiently)
26-30 Stonetalon Mountains
30-34 STV
34-36 Thousand Needles, Shimmering Flats (the grinding and pick-up quests are worth the extra lavels they grant)
36-42 Dustwallow - now one of my favourite areas
42-42 Tanaris (Epic fail due to the hour spent getting ganked and reganked)
42-44 STV (BB quests)
44-48 The Hinterlands
48-52 Felwood / Winterspring (hit winterspring a bit too early, went back to finish the last 2 levels there)
52-56 Ungoro Crater
56-58 Silithus (MY GOD the scorpion/spider pickup quest has a lousy drop rate)
58-60 Winterspring

After some issues I had with my dual-box hunters, I will not do any Hillsbrad quests unless a) I run out of all other quests for my level (not an issue with RAF); and b) it is after 3am server time. The same now goes for Tanaris - it's just not worth it. In total I had 49 hours played, with about 3 of them corpse running.

STV is great as long as you do a lot of the questing at a dead server time, or the ally ganking can be pretty bad (this would depend on your server too, but my server has a 3:1 Horde to Alliance balance and there are still always alliance ganking there). There is also a lot of experience to be had in Felwood and Un'Goro with a little running around, though most of the Un'Goro quests are pickup ones (running dual- and tri-box, I'm not too bothered by pickup quests).

I'm having a break for a while before working on my last two mages, but does anyone have any suggestions about the best way to get from 60-70? (Or possibly even 80 by then, but let's not go there just yet) Will I be able to get much from 5 boxing mages in the instances, or should I stick with the zone quest options available to me?

Ugh, collection quests are killing me. I'm doing most of Dustwallow atm and am almost 41 and the collect quests are brutal. Need more zones with less collect quests!

1-12 newb area

13-22ish barrens(dont knock it, it has some great quests! Make sure you dont miss the rare spawn kill and turn in quests in the lower barrens)

23-26 ashenvale hunt (look it up, very easy, 5boxing you can take out the 31 gryphon at 26)

27-31 thousand needles (tons of stuff to do here, very very little collection quests, 2 escorts, etc(no not shimmering flats, that place is gank central))

31-34 did some stv, though I lost a lot of time getting ganked

35-40 dont remember??

40-46 tanaris (awesome, just awesome quests)

46-51 Hinterlands (nuff said)

51-54 Western Plaguelands

55-59 eastern plaguelands

59-60 cloth turn ins =)

p.s. do EVERY dungeon on your way up, the quests for them give MASSIVE xp with RAF and killing in a dungeon is fast xp too! 8)



edit: ok skip wailing caverns, cuz that POS is like 3 hours long, ugh. Oh and my guys were 60 with no boosting in 19 hours. My second set of 60s made it in 9 hours (free levels ftw!)

Holy shit. I'm going about the RAF all wrong. I picked up my 6th account when RAF came around, so I'm only going with my 70 pally to boost, plus two RAF-linked accounts, and I'm only 24 on them after about 8 hours of leveling 1-10 quests, then 10-24 instance boosting. I guess it's time to try questing out instead..

I'm not personally hitting a great time like that but then again I am leveling BE's in the BE zones which I wasn't very familiar with until now. My next group of blood elves will lvl much faster.

1-22 be starting and goastlands (never even finished the deathome quest string (killed the troll elite and left).

22-24 lower Stonetallon

24-26 hillsbrad

26-28 stone tallon (chared vale)

28-30 1k needles

Started 30-34 in shimmering flats go to 31 and jumped ship to hillsbrad probably should have stuck it out mind you the worn stone dalaran quest got a little easier after replacing some sub 10 gear

Currently 36 in arathi highlands should make 40 if not top up in dust wallow

40-42 badlands

43-44 eastern tanaris

44-50 ish split between faralis, hinterlands , fellwood (lower timbermaw) ending with the ogres in tanaris

un'goro Crater 53 ish

upper fellwod 55

Winterspring till 59 pvp break

Officially not dual boxing yet rogue preist combo (using RAF to lvl a healer)

The next set is either a pair of alliance druids or horde pallys but those are the next two pars to go (oddly healer and tank combos to PUG with after 60). the ultimate goal is 3 sets to 59 before RAF runs out.

My first true multibox experience will be after the first set is done I will gift lvl to one of the hunters to pair up with another hunter as a farming machine, skinner/herb and a miner, really need money these RAF toons are expensive up front with no real money making and missing a good deal of quest reward due to the speed of leveling.
