Default My first time being reported on and ding level 70!

    Hello all,
I am sorta new to the forums here but, it is nice to meet you all. I started out getting into multiboxing from watching the Aelli video's on youtube. I just hit level 70 on a triple shaman setup last night. As I leveled, I have heard several people tell me "REPORTED!" "You cheater" etc etc. Well, this morning is the first time I was ever contacted by a GM.....he basically said that it is currently not a violation of policy but they do not encourage it. Kinda a bummer to hear that after spending all that time and effort getting to 70. After reading some of the wiki it seems like the GM's are more favorable of multiboxing. But, this one made me feel like I did something wrong by telling me its not encouraged. Sorry, I am just kinda frustrated at that little convo. Anyways I am attaching the screenshot of it below if it works. This is my first post here but it is nice to meet you all...... maybe I should transfer to a more multibox friendly server? Take care and keep on boxing! *edit* I am not sure if you guys can see the screenshot but if you click on my name I added it to my gallery here on the site. Thanks again and please someone tell me what I am doing isnt a "bad" thing lol

Blizzard is actually quite neutral on the subject, and an informed employee wouldn't have made that statement. There are a few GMs out there that act without knowledge or permission. For example, one member here was recently banned by the same GM TWICE. I wouldn't worry about this conversation.

I think you may have screwed up that image code there.

On topic, though, all of the GMs i've talked to haven't had a problem with it and were actually asking me questions, like "What classes are you boxing?" and "I think X would be a cool class to box, etc". Maybe that GM was just clueless, but as far as I know, Blizzard is open about multiboxing being fair.

What mod do you have that tells you "Follow has been broken" and all of that other stuff? I think that would be helpful to me - I always somehow have one guy WAY back and I never realize it until a few minutes later so I have to RAF Summon him, lol.

Thanks for the reply Basilikos..... this scares me though..... A member got Banned for multiboxing? I really do not want to get banned......is there a server out there that would be better for a multiboxer to go to? I am on a US alliance PVE server (Misha) but I would be happy to transfer if it meant not getting banned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Heya Thesavagetony! Thanks for the reply..... the mod I am using is the Twoboxtoolkit..... works pretty well for me. Check it out and let me know whatcha think! I dont have the full conversation shown on the screenshot..... before that comment, the GM did ask if all three accounts were owned by me. I informed him my account names and that is when he replied with that not encouraged comment. Anyways nice to meet you and thanks!

Perhaps you should use the email they give you at the end of the convo to let blizzard know this guys was frowning on Multi-Boxing. Maybe the GM hasnt been fully informed as to their stance or perhaps his wording was incorrect and it left you with the wrong impression. Either way bliz should be made aware that there is a GM that is contradicting what the forum mods(blue posts) have been saying.

I wouldn't sweat it. I'm sure there are GM's that don't like MB'ing just like there are players that don't like it. It's not up to them to make policy, just enforce it. I'm not sure if you tried reporting yourself, but I do that about once a week to cover my bases with the new GM's (I'm sure there is some turnover in that job). I explain to them what i'm doing, that I own all the accounts and I'm not automating. I also add that they don't need to respond. In most cases, my ticket is closed and I get the "you have been chosen to take a survey" screen. Maybe thats overkill, but I've spent an asston of my kids college money on this hobby. 8)

As for the People who QQ, they are the squeaky wheel while the other three wheels run silent. Most people you pass just look and say nothing. The QQ'ers want to do what you're doing, but can't for any number of reasons. You're best bet is to ignore them. If you can't ignore them, try closing your chats. Some people are just unhappy, and get off on grief. Flaming is a way for them to release aggression. There is nothing you can do for that. Feel sorry for them, and/or their parents, and move on.

Can GM's ask for usernames? It maybe just passwords they can't ask for but I would be hard pushed giving any of my account details out in game to a GM.

I should have been clearer. The reason sited for the ban had nothing to do with multiboxing. That was a SINGLE case of a bag GM. Account Admin is actually quite good at determining what really occurred. As far as what server you're on, don't worry about it. If something goes down, it oes down.

They have your account name. There is no reason for them to ask for it. If they do, politely remind them that they already have it.
