Default Has anyone started a list on which quests and where in WOW?

With all the leveling guides out there I was curious if anyone went through the available quests and determined which ones are the best for multiboxing.

I am looking to expand the wowwiki pages concerning multiboxing to include "multboxing friendly" quests.

Most collection quests are simply "out" though ones where its only one drop do work fine. Its when you have to collect 5-12 of an item that it becomes silly.

One thing I am trying to keep in mind is that not all characters will necessary level at the same time after some point in the game due to class quests. Both hunter and warlock have pet quests that add significant (early on significant - not much later) xp that only they get.

For Alliance, of the 4 starting areas, which is the most friendly?
Draenie have a lot of collection quests to start off. From killing moths for vials, collecting two kinds of plant parts, and those machine parts it adds up fast. Versus few other quests - kill x mutations, heal a sick comrade, clean to pool - may require collect quest, convert bad owlkin, kill some elves.. once you leave the early newbie area it gets a tad better.

Human starting area, collect wolf parts, bandanas, and grapes, versus kill quests of the goblins (two different ones), and a named kill. Goldshire offers two collection quests right off, plus another bandana quest, a wood collection quest, gnoll paws, versus few kill quests (bear/wolves etc)

Night Elf, collection quests were the drop of the gelkins (moss), spider ichor, spider eggs, poison cure quests, versus kills of boars and cats twice. Let alone the moonwell quests that chain.

So what its coming down to is, list the quests available, then remove those that are burdensome collection quests. Deliveries and the like area ok. Quests that involve a click to advance should be fine too.

I am going to create a wowwiki page for it... but am looking for what others have encountered .... to the point of - just how few quests do you actually do. Do you instead concentrate on +2 +3 content?

Keep in mind chains that have collection followed by kill. There are times where its worthwhile to do collection quests, such as a good reward or it chains to good quests.

I know a lot of people avoid collections when 5 boxing, it is daunting to collect 20 of an item, let alone 100 to fill out all 5...

I have been doing them, and the bonus is that you kill crap SO fast that you get loads of kill xp while collecting... this leads to faster leveling overall and more loot along the way to help supplement training, mounts, etc.

Jame's and Joana's guides are both very multiboxer-friendly in my experience. How many of the collection quests you do is entirely up to you. If your group can easily run 5-man instances, that is usually more profitable and better XP. With my 4 priests, I didn't have the luxury of being able to run instances worth a damn when they were still high enough to be able to get good xp from them. With my locks, I bypassed a LOT of quests because instance runs were so much easier and better XP.

Don't immediately rule out collection quests. As stated above, some lead to awesome quest chains.

Secondly, some collection quests are better than others.

For instance, there is the human skull collection on in Hillsbrad (for Horde at least). It's 30 skulls. Now, 30x5 seems like a lot, but there are tons of humans there. And most multiboxers can aoe grind those humans. It is worth picking up the skulls if you've already killed them.

Then there are the horrible collection quests. Arathi Highlands has one where you must collect 12 raptor hearts from Fleshstalkers. It drops about 30% of the time, and there are limited number of mobs. And there are usually other players doing the quest as well. I skip this one even when I'm solo.

Look at the drop rate vs. number of mobs, and throw in the quest chain factor.

One way to find some of the kill quests is to do a quest search on thottbot... in teh description field put "kill". gets a few per zone.

I emailed Brian Kopp suggesting he work on just such a thing, but he blew me off. =/

I would have thought he might want an additional source of income.

    Oh well.

Additional income? *gears start to grind in his head*

I'm not sure I'd have the patience to put together a complete step by step guide, but I certainly can find ALL of the kill quests and put it in a nice pretty format to be organized by zone.

    I'll look into starting something.

Unless there is a worthy chain quest linked to it, then I'll do it anyway. There are many points in the leveling process where there are gaps in the XP / Quest / Instances "flow" (hopefully fixed in 2.3), where you're simply goign to run out of quests to do, because of the group XP hit you get while leveling in a group.

Grinding for quest drops acutally helps this.
I kind of follow this formula as well, but look at two additional factors:

    1. Mob density - are the mobs spaced out or close enough together so you can round them up and AOE grind them? If mobs are bunched up enough, I'll do the quest even if the drop rate is low since the exp from AOE grinding is good. The quest 'Bone-bladed weapons' is a good example of this - it involves killing the raptors in Un'goro to get their claws, which have a low drop rate. But you can mount up, ride around and gather them in groups of 4 or 5 and AOE them down...and there are heaps of them! So I was able to finish this quest off quite quickly.

    2. Respawn rate - as a 5-boxer, I cut through most mobs like a hot knife through butter. But I don't want to kill all the mobs and be halfway through a gathering quest, and have sit around twiddling my thumbs waiting for respawns. The 'Cleansing Felwood' quest is a good example of this. You need to collect 15 Blood Amber from The Warpwood Elementals in the north of Felwood They are in a cave and too far apart to AOE grind. But they respawn very quickly - by the time I reached the end of the cave they have already repopped at the entrance. So there's very little time where you aren't killing the mobs, and the drop rate is 100%, so this quest didnt take long at all.
